Selene's POV

My body was tired, but my brain didn't let me rest. All along, until the morning came, I was thinking about Riker. I couldn't believe that for a long time since we separated, I saw him again. His face...

All about him

I missed him.

I hated myself for feeling this way. How could my heart still beat for someone who wished me to die?

"I saw him again," I told myself.

"Saw whom?" Out of the silent room, I heard Alexa ask me this.

I arranged myself to look at her and saw that her gaze was focused on me.

"Nothing."

I had yet to tell Alexa about Riker. I did want to tell her, but something was holding me back from doing so, even though I felt bad for not telling her.

After that, the silence embraces us again. We wanted to talk about something, but we didn't know how to start it. I know she wanted to tell me something, but she didn't know how to voice the words out. I heard Alexa let out a heavy breath.

"Do you want to tell me something?" I was the one who asked her first.

"I wanted to tell you that what you did last night was not right. You broke one of the rules." Her words were low.

I got up. "What do you mean about the rules? What kind of rules?"

I didn't hear about any rules that went against helping someone when they needed it.

A second later, she answered my question. "That you transformed."

"Transformation?"

"That you transformed into your werewolf form. They forbid us to show our wolf until they allow us to do it. Please don't do that again. No one should know about this."

Her voice was low; the lady we helped was still sleeping in the bedroom. She was probably just a regular human who witnessed a werewolf for the first time.

I fell silent when she said those words. I didn't know that they forbid us to change forms. But what if someone needs our help? I didn't get it. But I need to obey them. It seemed like the rules governing the Lycan kingdom were slightly different from this because I had no such rule when I was still a part of Father's Pack.

The time passed quickly. I hadn't noticed it because I was focused on my problem with Riker and the thing I did. This time, Alexa and I didn't get out of our dorm. Until a knock brought us back to reality. I glanced at Alexa "Axel. I bet it's Axel."

"Should I have opened it?" I asked her.

She didn't give a word; she just nodded. Then I got up to open the door, and she was right. It was Axel; he had eyes looking like he knew something we did last night. "What do you need?" I asked him coldly.

"What did you do?" He did not sound like he was in a good mood. He entered without my invitation. For a moment, I saw Alexa, who walked towards us. "What the hell did you do last night, Selene?!" His voice echoed the whole place. This was the first time that I saw how Axel was so serious and upset. I bit my lip, just to keep my tears from falling.

"She didn't know the rules. Come on, Axel. I already told her about it, and she would never do that again." It was Alexa who defended me from her brother. "I know it was you again, Alexa."

"No, it was all me. I just wanted to help the woman. I didn't know about the rules." I tried to defend Alexa.

Axel didn't say a word. He just crossed his arms and looked away. We just wanted him to talk and tell us how bad we did last night.

"It is good that no one knew you. Don't do it again. It is not good for you and the name your family has. Be mindful next time; it will not always be about you and the way you want to help other people. Think more than twice; there are dangerous people out there that might try to hurt you."

To be honest, I didn't know what he was talking about. Who were the dangerous people that might try to hurt me?

"And you, my black wolf sister, please. Stop your craving things when you know it is difficult to buy them at midnight." It seemed like he knew his sister all too well.

"I didn't know that would happen."

"From now on, every time you two go outside, I should know it. Okay?"

Alexa and I didn't give a response. I didn't know what to say. He wanted to monitor us. I know I did something wrong, but I think that was not right to be monitored and watched. At least I know what to do next time. "No response?"

When I was about to talk, Alexa voiced out my thoughts for me. "Because we don't want to."

Axel just shook his head with a disappointed look.

"Sorry for what I did, but Alexa was right. We don't want you. I mean, we don't need you to monitor all our locations, whereabouts, and outings."

My parents didn't do what he did to me right now. I admitted that I did wrong, but at least I know what I should do next.

Axel gave us a deep breath. "Okay, but be mindful next time. I just don't want you to be hurt. Be careful next time." I felt that he meant it.

For a moment, I looked into his eyes. I wanted to feel more love for him, but now that I saw Riker, all of my love for that man came back. But I knew that it was not a good idea. Maybe Riker has already found his Luna. The powerful and beautiful Luna and I were just forgotten.

The corner of Axel's eyes wrinkled. "Why are you staring at me?"

I looked away, and my gaze fixed on my friend, who laughed at what her brother said.

"Don't assume. I am hungry and wanted to ask you to get out of our room."

"All I need now is the lady the both of you helped at night, and I'll be on my way."

We went to our room to wake the lady up and present her to Axel. Axel waited for her to freshen up before taking her away. I had no idea how he knew about her, but I didn't question him because I knew he had ways of finding out, just like how he did about my transformation.

Since I knew now that transforming into my werewolf form was not a good idea, for now, I would control myself not to make the same mistake. I hope what happened last night was the last time I made that mistake. And also, the last time that I would see Riker.

I loved him, but I wanted him to be free to choose someone that he loved and cherished and not to lay eyes on me, the weak and unwanted werewolf again.
