Mating the Female Alpha
Chapter 40 – the Alpha’s concern

Tina's POV

By the time Tina returns to her home, she was fuming with rage towards that omega bitch. How can she just leave and then return like that? After what she found out about Landry? Does nothing turn her away from him? Not even the fact that he put all his people in danger for his own selfish reasons?

Tina's parent's noticed Tina's anger, and when asked about it, Tina confessed to her plans. She wanted to rid of that omega once and for all. Her parents found her antics to be funny, and they were also equally annoyed that her plans didn't work.

"You don't need to worry, my darling," her mother said, sitting down on the corner of her bed, trying to comfort her heartbroken daughter. "We are going to take revenge. You will soon get everything you deserve."

"What is the plan?" Tina asks, lifting her damp face from her pillow, revealing the sorrow in her eyes. "What are you going to do?"

"Something we should have done a long time ago," her father says. "But until then, don't worry too much about it. Just let us do what we do best."

Landry's POV

It's time for the alpha meeting held in the conference center of the palace. Landry sat at his usual spot at the head of the table, trying to pay attention to the alphas complaining about how there needed to be more border patrol and fighters in the northern region of the kingdom to protect them from more rogue attacks. It seems the rogues like that region of the kingdom the most and they are anticipating another attack soon.

They were in the middle of debating the pros and cons of doubling the patrol. It would mean taking away some patrol in other regions of the werewolf territory. Or they would need to use some of their funding to obtain even more patrol. Landry finds himself drifting into a daydream as he thought about Bernice up in her room. He wondered what she was doing. He thought about her touching herself to him; pleasuring herself because he isn't there to do it for her. He was growing impatient not being near her and his wolf was screaming with anticipation, wanting to run up the stairs and have his way with her delicate and perfectly formed body.

"Must be nice to be excused from duties," one of the alphas muttered, bringing Landry's attention back to the meeting. "Maybe if I had a nice pair of tits I could be excused too."

"What are you on about?" Landry growls, glaring at the alpha from across the table.

"Female Alpha Bernice," the alpha said with an eye-roll. "You excuse her from our meetings because you have the hots for her."

"No, the alpha king has found his mate already. It's the omega, Denise. Female Alpha Bernice is on a mission; she's not excused," another alpha said with a head shake. "The alpha is obviously excusing her because of her giant rack."

"Enough!" Landry said, slamming his fists on the table, causing everyone at the table to silence. "This meeting is about the doubling of the patrol and protecting our nation. We will not sit here and spread these insane rumors." "Alpha King?" Another alpha says from the other side of the table, averting all their attention from him. "I think some of us are just concerned that Alpha Bernice is getting some special treatment. She hasn't been a part of our meetings in a while. But we saw her fighting alongside you when the rogues attacked the other day. It seems she can come and go whenever she pleases."

"As I said before, Alpha Bernice is on a special mission," Landry says calmly as he sits back in his chair. "She happens to be stationed in the north and heard the commotion of the rogues. So, she came to help. There's nothing more to it other than that."

All the alphas murmured amongst themselves as they process this information. They have no reason to not believe him. Finally, they all nod. They bought his lie.

Once the meeting concludes, Landry goes back to Bernice who is lying in her bed. She's exhausted because of her illness. She hasn't fully healed yet; not to mention she was a little sad over her encounter with her family. She gives him a faint smile when he enters the room.

"How was the meeting?" Was the first thing she asks when she sees him. He should have known that would be the only thing on her mind.

"The other alphas were a bit confused after they saw you fighting the rogues the other day," Landry says with a frown. "That was one of the reasons I didn't want you there, to begin with. I had to answer their questions." "What did you tell them?"

"That you are stationed in the north and just happen to hear the commotion of the rogues," Landry says with a headshake. "I don't like having to lie to my men. But if it means keeping you safe, then that's exactly what I'll do." "Are you going to tell them I'm no longer alpha?" She asks.

"Not yet," he says in return. "It might be better if that came from you."

She shakes her head, and he can see how distraught she is.

"I don't think that's a good idea right now," she confesses.

"When they see that your bother is the new alpha of the sunset pack, they are going to figure out that something is wrong," Landry reminds her. "It's better if you speak to them sooner or later." She sighs and brushes her fingers through her hair.

"I vote later," she says. A playful smile appeared on her lips. He can't help but smile at her as he leans down and presses his lips against her mouth. She breathes him in, allowing his kiss to deepen.

He runs his thumb down her narrow features and the nape of her neck. His wolf was agitated that they haven't marked her yet. Landry wants more than anything to mark her and make her officially his. But she doesn't want to be marked; so, he must respect her wishes.

He pulls away before he deepens the kiss once again; his heart pounded heavily against his chest, and he can't help but get in his head a little bit.

This isn't just sex to him.

"I want you to stay here for a while," he finally admits to her. She looks surprised and raises her brows at him.

"I am staying here awhile," she says in return.

"I mean, even after we capture the assassin. I would like you to stay. Live at the palace permanently with me."

"Oh," she breathes, staring down at her hands. "I see."

"I don't mean to surprise you with that. But you must know how I feel about you, Bernice."

"I'm not really sure what that means,” she admits. "I don't know what kind of feelings you have and I'm not sure what kind of feelings I have. I'm sorry if that's not what you want to hear."

"I know you don't know how to love. But give me some time, and I can show you."

She meets his eyes, and he can see the concern lingering behind them.

"Why is it important to you?"

"Because you're important to me," he answers. "If you'll allow me, I'd like to show you just how much you mean to me."

She stays silent for a moment, processing what he had said before she speaks.

"If I'm honest, if I do have those feelings for you, I wouldn't know. But it's something I wouldn't mind finding out..."
