Mating the Female Alpha
Chapter 43 – Date night

Landry's

POV

Landry could hardly get work done the day after he had that conversation with Bernice.

She's willing to give him a try.

That meant he can take her on a proper date and try to gain her heart.

He spent most of the night planning the perfect evening for the two of them to share. Of course, he needed to be careful because that assassin was still out there. Not that Bernice couldn't handle her own, but still. Landry wouldn't want to put her in the eyes of danger.

If he were to take her into the city, he needs to make sure he has the proper guards with him. He asked his head gamma and some other soldiers to accompany them into town.

He was only half expecting Bernice to turn him down for the evening; it might be too much too soon. Then again, she already agreed to give it a try. He's surprised when he sees that she's not in her room though. But once he picks up the scent of his sister, Jessie, he assumes they are probably in the living room catching up.

As he entered, a different variety of females are leaving. He frowns as he looked around and then catches the eyes of Bernice from across the room. Her entire skin was sparkling from head to toe in different oils and lotions. Her hair was even longer and flawless it seemed. She had a light layer of makeup on her face that highlights her brightest and sincerest features.

She doesn't notice him at first because she was talking to Jessie; Landry couldn't seem to take his eyes off Bernice though. She looked so beautiful and relaxed. He's never seen a smile like that on her face before; it compliments her beauty perfectly.

Bernice finally takes notice of him, and she looked almost sheepish as their eyes lock.

"Doesn't she look beautiful, Landry?" Jessie breathed. "We spent the whole day being pampered. I figured a girl's day was much needed."

"You look incredible," Landry says, keeping his eyes on Bernice. Her face reddened lightly under the layer of makeup, and she stared at her feet. Her toenails were pink; Landry stifled a laugh. That had to be the work on Jessie. "Do you mind if I speak to her alone?" He asks Jessie.

Jessie only grins broadly and turns to Bernice. She says something that Landry couldn't quite hear but telling from the look Bernice was giving her, it was probably not fit for all ears. Jessie chuckled and turned away, giving him a wink as she leaves the living room.

"I'm sorry you've been subjected to this," he says to her as he approaches. "I'll have the guards pay closer attention to who's allowed in this palace." Bernice gave him a kind smile.

"I don't mind," she says genuinely. "I like spending time with your sister. She's ... uh .... Interesting."

"Interesting is an understatement," he says with a head shake. "So, I was thinking that we can go on a date this evening."

Her eyes widen at his words, and she stared around his face for a moment as if she were trying to figure out if he was kidding or not.

"A date?" She asked.

He nods his head once.

"I wanted to take you into the city this evening," he further explained. "Accompanied by my best warriors of course. I want to take you to my favorite areas around the city. It might be better than being cooped up in this palace." She thought about it for a moment before nodding her head.

"Okay," she finally says. "I'd like that."

...

Bernice wore a gorgeous, and yet causal evening dress. She left her hair down, so it draped over her shoulders lazily and flowed down her back in even and delicate strands. She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and gazed up at him with a small yet nervous smile. He can tell she's trying to hide her nervousness, but she can't hide it all that well. He knew her well enough by now to know when her nerves start to get the best of her.

But he doesn't make a note of that or point that out to her. He offered her his arm, and she took it with only a small hesitation. He guided her out of the palace doors and towards the waiting vehicle. The diver had the car door open already by the time they arrived. The driver bowed to them and allowed them to enter the backseat of the car.

Landry always admired the city at night; the lights were so bright it almost seemed like it was daytime, except for the giant moon that rested in the sky and overlooks the entire werewolf territory. Werewolves walk the streets as if they haven't slept a day in their lives. Even at night, the streets remain busy; everyone seemed to be in such a hurry to go nowhere.

The driver stopped in front of a well-lit and elegant restaurant with red curtains that occupy the tinted windows. There were guards standing outside who bow to Landry as he approaches. Landry ignored the line of people who have been waiting to enter the restaurant. They all seemed excited by his appearance.

He was used to women cooing and falling at his feet as he passes them.

He skipped the line and stands before the guards, waiting for them to alert the restaurant staff of his arrival. As they wait, Bernice stood close beside him; he could tell she was feeling awkward and out of her element. They allow them to enter the restaurant and they are seated at Landry's favorite spot, overlooking the bay.

The moon sat above the water, allowing its rays to glisten upon the waves and make the water appear to be sparkling. The boats in the distance complimented the bay and sounded the night air with a loud horn. Bernice gazed out the window, loving the view from where they sat inside the restaurant. A gorgeous chandelier hung above their table, making Bernice's gown and complexion sparkle under the illuminating lighting.

She hardly noticed when the waiter placed a menu in front of her. He started by pouring a couple of glasses of red wine.

"I'll return when you've had a chance to look over the menu," the waiter says with a bow before walking away.

Bernice finally noticed the menu and she gazed at it for a moment with a frown.

"I'm not sure what to order," she says softly. "Everything looks so good."

"Then, let's order a little bit of everything," Landry says, placing his own menu down. "Can't go wrong with that."

She seemed surprised by his response, but she smiled at the thought and nodded.

Landry had his guards placed around the restaurant, keeping an eye on them, but also giving them space.

He paid no attention to the curious gazes and the whispers of those seated around them.

All he can notice is the beautiful omega that sits before him.

As promised, Landry ordered a bit of everything off the menu. Together, they enjoyed their feast. Bernice had quite an appetite and he admired that about her. He couldn't help but laugh at her different expressions as she tried new foods. She seemed to enjoy each bite though and that pleased him.

"I've never had food like this before," she admitted. "It's delicious."

"Eat up," he says to her with a fond smile. "Eat as much as you'd like."

Once dinner concluded, instead of going back to the waiting car, Landry and Bernice take a walk through the busy streets of the city. He took her to a few areas that he liked. Areas that overlook the bay and areas where tall statues of the founding father. One of the statutes happened to be of his father and he frequently liked to go there to speak with his father and ask for advice.

"Father," Landry says as he stands before the statue. "I want you to meet a special lady. This is Bernice. But don't tell anyone that's her real name. She goes by Denise here." He winks at her as he says that last part, causing her to laugh. She bowed to the statue.

"It's nice to meet you, sir," she says. "I've heard many nice things."

Landry laughed: and it felt good to laugh.

...

Jessie's POV

There was a knock on the palace doors. Jessie's doorman was quick to answer as he often does. A woman stood before Jessie, someone that Jessie has never met before, but she was holding a makeup bag. "I'm not interested in whatever you're selling," Jessie was quick to say.

"I was referred to you. I was told you can help me," the woman says with a bow. "May I come in?"
