Miss, My Father loves you -
Chapter 13 Play Hard To Get
Zack's face was grim.
He couldn't believe his ears.
"Be thankful Bennie likes you, but that's not a pass for you to not fear me," Zack reminded her.
"Mr. Ji, I promised Bennie that I will stay and cook for him. But if you don't want to see me, I'll be leaving then.
He was a dangerous man she shouldn't offend. So she proceeded to take off her apron and leave.
Zack reached out his hand to stop Daryl. He frowned and said, "Don't go. I have promised Bennie and I don't want to break it."
Daryl bit her lip and glared at him. "Then leave. Stop bothering me."
Her red eyes made Zack feel torn.
"This is my home. Who do you think you are to drive me away?"
"You're being unreasonable!" Daryl was feeling frustrated.
Zack was not happy with her response. He grabbed her wrist and pressed her against the wall.
He raised his hand and held Daryl's chin tightly.
"Unreasonable? How many times have you provoked me? Are you playing hard to get?" Zack lowered his gaze, from her face down to her collar. He felt breathless.
"You think too much, Mr. Ji. Also, don't touch me. You're always pestering me. I might think that you like me." Daryl held her breath.
Zack's face had a dark expression.
Daryl's phone rang and interrupted the tension between them.
It was Candida.
Daryl knew that Candida was up to no good, but she badly wanted to stay away from Zack. So she answered the phone.
Zack looked stern.
He really wanted to punish her for she dared to answer the call when she was in his arms.
Before Daryl could speak, Candida's arrogant voice came from the other end of the line.
"Daryl, it's all your fault. I'm in trouble now. Don't you ever think that you can win. Do you think that Leon will come back to you. You wish. I won't let you get a chance to turn over for the rest of your life. You owe me this!"
Candida was fuming that she didn't bother to keep her usual image. She kept cursing on the phone.
Daryl's heart ached. She regarded Candida as her own sister. "Candida, why are you treating me like this? What have I done wrong to you? Why do you hate me so much?"
"Since you don't know, I'll tell you. It's because I'm also a daughter of Martin Ye. With you and your mother around, he refused to recognize me! He wouldn't admit my identity even though he took me to the Ye family. How heartless he was! I'm also his daughter. Why did he treat us differently?"
Do you know how much I hate you? Damn you, Daryl Ye! It's you who took away the identity of Mrs. Lu!"
Candida's animosity towards Daryl could not be mistaken.
When Daryl heard her accusations, she felt her chest tighten from the shock.
She was teary-eyed at that point and tightened her grip on the phone.
"What did you say?" Daryl muttered in disbelief.
She thought that Candida was adopted by their parents.
It turned out Candida was her half-sister.
"I said that Martin Ye is my father. Your mother doesn't know about it, does she?" Candida laughed maniacally. "I'm his child from another woman! You are an abandoned woman now. Let's see if anyone would even want you." "Shame on you! Candida Ye! You..."
Daryl almost broke down.
Quivering, her grip loosened that her phone was snatched away.
Daryl raised her head only to find that Zack was already holding her phone. "Miss, can you repeat what you just said?"
"Who's this?" Candida raised her voice, "She's just a loose woman. She slept with another man behind her husband. She's too full of herself to not see that." "And?" Zack pursed his lips as he spoke indifferently. Daryl looked up at Zack. All she could see was his angular chin.
She wanted to take her phone back, but Zack was too tall. She jumped, but to no avail.
Zack was calm and unhurried. He was cold towards Candida, while he was getting annoyed with the woman who kept reaching for the phone.
He pushed Daryl against the wall again.
The man kept putting his weight on her.
"Hey, bastard, give me the phone!" Daryl didn't want Zack to hear what Candida said about her. She was mad about the whole situation.
However, Zack already trapped her.
On the other end of the line, Candida was getting irritated. She didn't know who the man was and said, "I said she is an idiot. I don't have an idiot for a sister."
"Really? Well, in three minutes, I can make the entertainment industry shut you out." The murderous intent in Zack's eyes was evident.
Candida's face changed dramatically. "Who are you? You don't scare me."
"Zack Ji." He introduced himself.
"No way. I don't believe you." Candida's face turned pale with the mention of his name.
Zack hung up. He was infuriatingly mad.
A loud thud could be heard. It was as if the floor trembled.
Zack slammed the phone on the table. His eyes were dark in burning anger.
"Are you stupid? You were being bullied! Why didn't you fight back?" Zack sounded disappointed with her.
He was astounded by her foolishness.
On the other hand, Daryl was preoccupied with what Candida said.
She was too blind to know the truth.
Just thinking about her mother who had no idea of her father's betrayal broke her heart.
Daryl never imagined that her father would keep such a lie for so long.
She tried to compose herself. With conviction, she pleaded, "Let go of me."
"Just ask me and I will help you deal with them," Zack offered. With a gloomy face, he held her face, tighter than necessary.
That was not the first time he gave her the option to accept his aid. If she dared to refuse again, he was not sure if he could control himself.
Daryl was left perplexed. Her face was covered in tears. She was helpless. "How could Candida be Dad's biological daughter?"
Daryl had treated Candida so well since they were kids.
It turned out she was a fool.
"Marry me." It was an out of the blue order from Zack. "What?" Daryl, as perturbed as she was, became even more confused.
Zack looked at her and explained, "Marry me. We will have this agreement for two years. You will be Mrs. Ji to the public eye, but you will be Bennie's nanny at home. I will make anyone who wronged you kneel in front of you. I will give you that satisfaction whenever you wish."
Daryl's priority at that time was to escape from him. She kept hitting his chest in panic.
She was upset that she couldn't get out of his grasp.
"Let me go! Let go of me first!" she yelled.
Talking about marriage was something she never expected from him.
She didn't know how to respond to it.
Even so, she was moved.
She just recently got divorced and then an official proposal came her way.
It was not because of love, but for her good. Although he was a mean and ruthless man, he could help her and stand up for her in desperate times.
She knew deep down that she needed someone to support her.
She really wanted to say yes.
