Miss, My Father loves you -
Chapter 44 His Promise
Daryl stood outside Zack's room on the second floor. She took a deep breath, and planned how she would persuade Benjamin to not be impulsive. However, the little boy knocked on the door. "What?"
Zack was still on the phone when he opened the door. "What's up?"
"Daddy, Mommy wants to help you apply the ointment. Talk on the phone later, and let Mommy enter first!"
Benjamin whined. He then pushed Daryl towards Zack and placed the first-aid box in her hands.
"Ah!"
Caught off guard, Daryl stumbled and threw herself into Zack's arms.
Zack took one step back when he caught Daryl.
Benjamin slammed the door shut.
He called Dillon over. "Dillon, hurry up! Come over here and lock the door!"
When Dillon heard this, he wanted to cry. 'Oh my God! How could he call me by my name in such a loud voice?
What if Mr. Ji decides to get even with me tomorrow?
Forget it.' After slight hesitation, he decided to help Benjamin lock the door from the outside at the risk of being punished. Done! Benjamin smiled and told Dillon, "You must tell the servants in the villa not to open this door tonight!"
"Understood."
In the room
Daryl threw herself into Zack's arms and looked up into his dark eyes.
"I'm so sorry."
Daryl turned her head away and avoided his gaze. She lowered her head as she reached out her hand, trying to prop herself up.
But after a few seconds, she heard the sound of locking coming from the other side of the door.
Daryl tried to pry the door open, but failed.
"Bennie! Open the door. Did you lock it from the outside?"
She anxiously pounded on the door, but was responded with only silence. There was a trace of coldness from behind her.
Daryl knew that the door wouldn't be opened. She turned around and looked at the man in front of her. "Well. I didn't expect that Bennie would do something like that."
Zack's cold eyes stared down at her petite figure. "Weren't you supposed to help me apply the ointment?" He spoke in an apathetic tone.
"What?"
Daryl was stunned for a while. She quickly shook it off and responded, "Oh, yes."
She then picked up the first-aid box from the floor while Zack sat on the sofa.
Daryl followed him to the sofa and sat beside him. She opened the box, and repeated the previous steps. Her movements were neat and efficient. "What's wrong with your face?"
Zack asked in a low voice as she was about to apply the ointment to his arm.
Daryl paused for a moment. Her lips pursed as she whispered, "I got into an accident while I was filming."
Not even Benjamin could be fooled by such a lame excuse.
A hint of anger flashed before Zack's eyes. 'The foolish woman didn't even know how to fight back, even after being slapped. If Benjamin hadn't avenged her, would she had burdened herself by carrying all this anger?' With a mischievous smile, Zack asked, "Really? What an actress you are? You were either scaled by accident or slapped in the face.
Will you get any more serious injuries next time around?" "What a sharp tongue!'
After being scolded, Daryl rebuked, "I didn't intend on hurting myself. People who don't like me want to deal with me. What could I do? Besides, if I angered you in any way, I could be replaced at anytime."
The more Daryl spoke, the more dejected she became. What was she doing? Was she complaining to Zack?
She must be crazy! "When did I tell you that I would replace you?"
Zack's cold voice beamed from above. Daryl couldn't help but look up. Her eyes filled with confusion.
An estranged look flashed across Zack's stunning face. He frowned and continued, "Stupid. If you're bullied again in the future, just fight back!" Once Daryl heard this, she asked in a daze, "What if I get you into trouble?"
"No matter what happens, I'll make sure to deal with it."
His resounding words echoed. Daryl had never heard anyone talk to her like that before.
She swallowed. "Am I dreaming?"
Zack even made such a promise to her. He didn't look cold now, even though the tone of his voice hardly changed.
"Idiot."
Zack patted her on the shoulder. "Don't dream right now. Just apply the ointment. Now!"
"Okay."
Daryl was brought back to her senses and hurriedly applied the ointment to his arm.
After she had applied the ointment, Daryl placed the box down and smiled at Zack. "Well, can you call Dillon to open the door?" When Zack heard this, he took a quick glance at her. "Okay."
He then unlocked his phone and tossed it to her. "You call him!" Daryl caught the phone and dialed Dillon's number. But no one answered.
Daryl called him around three times in a row, but to no avail. She then called Benjamin, but still, no one answered.
Zack kept calm. He wasn't surprised at all when he saw the look of disappointment on her face. After all, he knew his son well.
If he really planned to lock them up in the same room, then he would definitely inform his subordinates and servants to not come and open the door.
"No one's answering."
Daryl hesitantly gave the phone back to Zack.
He stood up and walked right past her to the walk-in closet.
Daryl took quick notice of what he was about to do, and hurriedly stood up. "Well, are you going to sleep? I... I'm going to head to the balcony and see if there is a way down!"
She was about to walk over to the balcony.
But in a split second, Zack tightly grabbed her wrist with his firm hand.
He looked at her with a frown on his face. "Are you some kind of idiot? Do you want to fall down and injure yourself?" His voice was cold and stern.
Daryl was in a tight spot and could only reply weakly,
"If I can't get out, then where should I sleep? You're a neat freak and you don't like women!" "What?"
Zack raised his eyebrows and pulled her into his arms. "Who told you that I don't like women?"
As he spoke, he slowly bent over and drew closer to her. His thin lips gently pressed against her ear, exhaling hot air. "Didn't you figure out whether I like women or not in the hotel room?"
