Miss, My Father loves you -
Chapter 46 She Wasn't Weak
After Daryl said that, a silence ensued between them for a moment. Then, she heard Zack's deep voice.
"Come here."
"What?"
Before she had the chance to figure out what he meant, she was pulled by his strong arms and felt a familiar embrace.
"You..."
Daryl wanted to ask what he was trying to do, but Zack had already held her slender waist with one hand and placed his other arm beside her face with one fell swoop. "Just shut up and sleep," he ordered.
Although she was in his arms, this particular position was comfortable enough for her to fall asleep. And more importantly, with his arms around her, she wouldn't be able to move around restlessly. After that, they managed to get a good night's sleep.
The following day, Daryl was awakened by her biological clock. As soon as she woke up, she stretched out her slender arm and touched the space beside her. I was cold. 'Zack has already gotten up?' Then, Daryl pushed off the quilt and got out of bed. She found that the door was open, so she went straight back to her room and washed up. When she got into the bathroom, she realized that her face wasn't as swollen as it was yesterday.
As she stared at herself in the mirror, Daryl couldn't resist thinking of how Zack helped her fall asleep.
The moment she got ahold of herself, she realized that she was blushing.
"What on earth am I thinking about?"
Daryl dabbed her face with cold water. How could she crave for Zack's embrace? He was always so cold and the only time she felt warm around him was when he was asleep. After calming herself down, Daryl went downstairs. "Mommy!"
When she reached the stairway, Benjamin rushed to her side and hugged her thigh. "You're finally awake! I was planning to wake you up for breakfast!"
Bending down to hold him up, Daryl asked, "Is that so?
Bennie, why did you lock me and your daddy in the room last night?"
"Shouldn't it be normal for Mommy and Daddy to sleep in the same room?"
Benjamin answered in an innocent voice. "All the TV dramas I've watched are like this!"
Daryl didn't have the heart to scold him,
so she just said, "Don't do that again." "Yes, Mommy."
Benjamin nodded obediently.
They went downstairs while conversing. Soon, Daryl saw that Zack was already sitting at the dining table.
She took Benjamin's hand and sat across him.
"Good morning!"
Daryl was aware that Zack wouldn't respond anyway, and she just greeted him out of habit.
But to her surprise, he raised his head and glanced at her. "Good morning," he responded.
As she was picking up the glass of milk, she was halted. Were her ears playing tricks on her? Did she just hear Zack respond to her greeting? Even though it were just those two words, it sounded like music to her ears. Perhaps Zack finally learned how to be polite.
Even the butler was surprised by the sudden turn of events. Zack didn't seem to be as indifferent to Daryl as he appeared to be.
Dillon shot a glance at the butler, implying that it wasn't that big of a deal.
'Wow! Daddy responded to Mommy!'
Benjamin thought, picking up a piece of toast. 'It seems like my plan last night worked!'
Daryl was oblivious to the fact that the rest of the family were more surprised than she was when they saw Zack's sudden change of attitude.
After they finished breakfast, Zack took Benjamin and Daryl to the school and the set respectively. When Daryl arrived at the set, she noticed that Sofia wasn't there yet. Moments later, she received a text message from her, saying that she was feeling under the weather and was going to be late.
"Daryl."
Daryl was staying in the dressing room, reading her lines, when Lewis unexpectedly visited her.
"What's the matter?"
Daryl answered as she put down the script and looked at him.
"Actually, I bought an extra breakfast when I came here. Would you like to have it?" Lewis said to her, scratching the back of his head in embarrassment.
"Thank you, Lewis, but I've already had breakfast,"
Daryl refused with a smile on her face.
"I see..."
After that, Lewis turned around and left.
"Daryl!"
Not long after Lewis left, Sadie entered her dressing room.
She came in with a dissatisfied expression, and slapped the dresser in front of her. She appeared to be furious.
"Were you responsible for what happened to Lucy yesterday? Answer me!"
The moment Sadie stormed in, she appeared as if she was ready to settle the score with her. The staff immediately ran out because they were afraid of offending her.
"What did you say?"
Daryl laid down the script once more and stared at her calmly. "I don't understand."
With a blatant anger on her face, Sadie exclaimed, "Stop pretending like you know nothing! You're just trying to get back at Lucy for slapping you, so you tampered with the script and got her beaten too!" "Sadie, I must say that you're being unreasonable."
Daryl raised an eyebrow. "The script was revised several times yesterday, but I was oblivious to all the changes made. I was also slapped. What kind of influence do you think I possess to have Lucy beaten just like that?"
As she was speaking, she suddenly understood something. "Oh, by the way, why should I even hate Lucy to begin with? She didn't slap me on purpose, it was all part of the script! Do you think I'm that shallow?" "You..."
Sadie had never expected that the once innocent Daryl she knew five years ago would become so eloquent!
She knew that in theory, Daryl wasn't capable of anything like this. But at the back of her mind, she had a hunch that Daryl had something to do with it.
"If there's nothing else, the door is right there."
Daryl picked up a lip gloss and opened it gracefully. Before she could apply it on her lips, she scowled, "Don't disturb me while I'm preparing my makeup and changing my outfit."
As of this moment, Sadie was still angry, but she couldn't afford to make a scene here. In the end, all she could do was give up and storm out.
The staff didn't return to the dressing room until she was gone. They thought that the room would be a mess or they would find Daryl in a mess. But Daryl appeared to be doing okay. She was even reading the script.
All of the staff were surprised to see this. Daryl seemed like a pushover, but it seemed that they misjudged her. She wasn't weak!
After leaving Daryl's dressing room, Sadie received a call from the doctor and immediately rushed to the hospital.
"What happened?"
When she arrived at the hospital, Sadie found that Lucy was as pale as a ghost. It looked like she had gotten weaker than she was yesterday. "Why did you catch a fever?"
"I did it on purpose,"
Lucy answered straightforwardly. "I just want Lyman to visit me."
"What? I can't believe it."
Sadie didn't have the heart to say it, but she knew that i t was impossible for a playboy like Lyman to really care about Lucy.
Lucy had only been with Lyman for six months, but she already wanted to become his wife.
