"Showering with you doesn't take just fifteen minutes. We were late this morning, remember?"

"Who's to blame for that?" Nathan asked mischievously, narrowing his eyes.

"Ew, when did I ever mess up? You were the one who wanted to add more."

"Nathan!" Tasya couldn't believe how easily Nathan could turn things around. If throwing a pen were considered polite, she would have done it a long time ago. "Enough. I need to work."

Nathan chuckled contentedly, but before he left Tasya for real, his question suddenly made her smile even wider.

"Will we visit Mama Abigail this afternoon?"

"Yes, we will. Dr. Eve said Mama's condition is gradually improving."

"Thank goodness. I also want to have a chat with her. Last week, it was just the four of you, right?"

Tasya laughed. "Yes. You're accompanying Mr. Leo to Makassar, aren't you?"

"Yeah, I am," Nathan said, stroking his chin. "Then, we'll chat a lot with Eve, right?"

Tasya nodded enthusiastically. Until Nathan, clad in his Armani suit, disappeared behind the glass-layered door, that smile on Tasya's face didn't want to go away.

Really... her gratitude for her life was immense. Her mother's condition, as she just told Nathan, was gradually improving. Her mother talked about many things, even though she had to piece her words together because they seemed random. Sometimes she talked about Ronan, sometimes Robin's birth, and sometimes she congratulated Tasya on her achievement as the overall champion.

Evelyn said that Abigail was trapped in the thought that she was in a time when her three children were still little. Her husband loved her with all his heart, wholeheartedly, and never betrayed her. What her husband did back then really shook her.

"There's nothing wrong with the way you love, Tasya. But being trapped in an unhealthy relationship is not easy to get out of. She needed support, which, unfortunately, she didn't get. That's why the pressure kept building up, and it became like it was a while ago. Now, Mrs. Abigail is starting to sort out which memories are old and which ones she thinks are only in her mind. She's aware, you know, that your husband passed away a long time ago and also left behind things you shouldn't have had to bear."

Tasya remembered Evelyn's words very clearly. Her eyes welled up as she listened.

"She's also aware that your dad wasn't faithful. She said everything was given, but your dad cheated."

Tasya felt left out because she had no idea about this. Nevertheless, she trusted her mother, even though the story was still in disarray. Her mother couldn't have gone through this without a reason. She remembered that her mother was a woman with a gentle heart.

"I didn't expect you to place your trust in a man in a situation like this, Tasya." Eve held her hand. "It's really impressive. Especially, I can see that Mr. Nathan isn't playing around with his love and affection for you. I admire your courage, Tasya." "I just hope I'm told if I'm no longer loved. Don't just leave me like that," Tasya whispered unintentionally. She returned the firm grip of that hand just as tightly.

"No. You don't need to worry about that. Love can continue to grow as long as you're willing to learn from your mistakes. There's no perfect human, Tasya. Only God has that perfection. You're free to talk if there's something bothering you, something you can't express. But..." Eve paused for a moment to get Tasya's attention, which she immediately did when Tasya raised her gaze. "But?"

"After you've talked about it. Be open with each other." "That's what we're doing now."

"Thank goodness," Eve smiled broadly. "I always pray that your relationship will last forever. It's a blessing in navigating through this world. Nathan is like the waves, wild and uncontrollable. But you're an excellent surfer, Tasya." Tasya's forehead furrowed in thought.

"I've known Nathan since college. Even though we weren't in the same program, his name was famous all over campus. No one can control the waves if they can't ride them skillfully, and you've got that." Tasya's smile tugged a bit.

"I really hope you two are always together. No third parties, fourth parties, or any other serious issues. Every person, in a relationship or not, has their own tests. It's just a matter of whether you can support each other or push each other. Right?"

Tasya agreed. "Please pray for us, Dr. Eve."

Without hesitation, Evelyn nodded. "Let me know when I have cute nieces or ones as beautiful as Naina? It will be so much fun."

Just remembering her conversation with Evelyn had already made her more eager to finish her remaining reports. Not to meet Eve, more precisely, but her mother. Where she also promised to meet there with her two siblings and Naina. They all wanted to meet Abigail, who was now welcoming them with a friendly smile and open arms.

The portrait that now always sat beside her work desk, she picked it up and gazed at it closely. There was her mother and Naina hugging her, as well as Ronan and Robin on her right and left sides. Also, Tasya and Nathan at the very end. Everyone was smiling. Carefree.

She regarded this portrait as a picture of her wedding. Even without a wedding gown, without Nathan's expensive suit, without flowers and decorations, it was more than enough. Their smiles were too precious to be traded for anything Tasya had. Besides, her mother now understood why Tasya got married without her presence.

No more hysteria from her mother when they met, no more sudden fears for Tasya. What mattered now was the enthusiasm of meeting her mother every week. Eve said her mother would be allowed to come home in less than a month. Although under strict control and antidepressant medications when too many thoughts came to Abigail.

It didn't matter.

Tasya understood that. She didn't want to dwell on the past either. Ronan was already an adult. He understood the responsibilities, not just for Robin's education. Oh no, not that. But the responsibility towards himself and his growing life. Robin was also much more independent and not as demanding as most children in her age and her free-spirited circle. The kind that demanded this and that just for the sake of pride.

No.

Both her siblings were aware of the situation and conditions. Tasya was extremely grateful for that. Then there were the two people in her life again. Naina and Nathan.

Tasya's smile widened. "Thank you, God. You are so good. Thank you. And to You, I ask. Watch over all of us in the blessings of Your protection. Fill our hearts with enough love. Amen." The End.
