My Arrogant Mate -
Chapter 36
Arrived in front of a small bistro, Silvan got out first and then came around the car to politely open the door for me. I glanced at Igor, who was still sound asleep on the back seat. "Are you just going to leave him here?" I turned to Silvan as I got out of the car and stood next to him.
"It would be dangerous even for me to wake him up," he replied with a smile and then ran ahead of me into the small bistro, where there were really a lot of cars in the parking lot. This little red building must be pretty popular around here. One last look at the sky to feel the sun on my skin, then I ran after Silvan.
Through a glass door you came into a small anteroom, where you had the opportunity to hang up your jacket. But neither of us had any on, so we went directly through another glass door into a large hall.
On the right was a white bar, behind which stood a relatively young-looking woman whose hair was such a vibrant red color that I was able to look away only after it got slightly uncomfortable.
The rest of the room consisted of red upholstery, round glass tables and huge windows that let in the sun.
Although I heard the many whisperings of the guests, I didn't pay any attention to them.
"Hello Silvan," the redhead greeted the alpha and when I looked at her again, I immediately noticed her reddish cheeks, which had seemed so pale before.
I also noticed that she started to play with her hair nervously, not even taking her eyes off of him.
Is she kidding me???
Before my jealousy fully surfaced, Silvan held out his hand and led me past the bar.
Of course, I didn't fail to smile triumphantly at her, but she just stared at me briefly and then looked the other way.
It wasn't until I sat down with Silvan at one of the back tables and let my eyes wander over the other guests that I noticed that it wasn't just the redhead who was staring at my mate in fascination. Every pair of eyes of every woman was fixed on the man sitting in front of me, which made me immediately uncomfortable.
Not only uncomfortable, it made me feel like shit like I wasn't even worthy of sitting across from him.
After all, my brown hair looked disheveled and the yellow sweater was already past its prime, while Silvan just looked incredibly good with his black T-shirt and tattoos. But then I noticed something else...
He looked at me just as fascinated as all these women look at him and that brought a proud smile to my lips as our eyes met and he didn't look away from me for a second. The other women didn't seem to interest him at all, despite their great hairstyles, make-up and beautiful dresses.
"Why are you smiling like that?" he suddenly asked me and handed me one of the green cards on which different foods were written.
"Oh, just so," I mumbled, embarrassed, and then studied the map, all the while feeling him staring at me, which sent incredibly beautiful goosebumps down my arms.
"Too bad," I heard him whisper softly and turned my gaze back to him to look at him questioningly.
"What's a pity?" I wanted to know and put the card on the round glass table in front of me.
"That you won't admit that you smile because of me," he explained with a smile and leaned forward a bit to examine me intently. "I love it when you smile. Especially when I'm the trigger."
He slumped back in his chair and continued to look at the map while my heart fluttered wildly at just the way he spoke to me...
"What can I get you?"
A young guy with several piercings and tattoos suddenly stood next to me and probably looked at me a second too long, because a low growl, which still sounded absolutely threatening, escaped Silvan's throat and the guy immediately turned to the alpha. I was probably not the only one who was jealous, but he could have given me at least one admirer if he had so many himself.
"And you?" He pulled me out of my thoughts after he had ordered and when I wanted to look at the waiter, Silvan cleared his throat and my eyes fell on him again.
Wasn't I even allowed to order for myself anymore?
"If your throat is sore, you should have a sip of water," I retorted, raising an eyebrow, and then turned back to the waiter, who seemed quite nervous. The poor ... "I'd like a coke and a small salami pizza."
He nodded and disappeared again, which made me look at Silvan with a dirty grin.
"Do you seriously want me to tell you what I want so you can tell the waiter?"
"I don't like the way he looks at you," he said and I stared at him in disbelief.
"Have you looked around at how women look at you? Like they're about to jump at you! Do you think I like it?"
Instead of looking around, he suddenly smiled and leaned forward enough to easily reach my hand, which lay still on the table.
He took it gently in his and stroked it gently to give me that bedroom look that made my heart race.
"I don't give a damn about them, but what I do care about is the fact that you're jealous. It might sound sick, but I love it."
The blush rose to my cheeks again, making him glow even more than before.
"And I love that, too," he grinned, still staring at me in fascination.
I felt completely overwhelmed and got so hot that I wanted to pour the coke that the waiter just brought over my head.
But then Silvan's cell phone rang and when his hand left mine and his eyes no longer fixed on me, luckily my body calmed down again.
****
"Excuse me, please," he said, walking towards the exit with the phone in his hand. I looked after him confused, until the waiter suddenly stood in front of me with my pizza in his hand and drew my attention. "Thank you," I pulled my hands away from the table so he could set my plate down while I took a closer look at his piercings.
He had one on his eyebrow, one on the side of his lips, and one on his ear too, but that was barely visible through the brown hair that fell in a mess over it.
"Are you into pain?" I asked curiously and when his eyes locked on mine, a cosmic twitch suddenly ran through me that I could feel deep into my consciousness.
His eyes were blue, just as blue as Devin's, but he had a dark spot in one that I ended up staring at longer than I intended.
What is happening here???
"It doesn't hurt if you let it be done voluntarily. Pain only comes when you're forced," he said almost in a whisper, then adjusted his white shirt to quickly disappear again.
An absolutely comfortable feeling remained inside me, which I didn't know why it was suddenly there and it made me completely confused.
Before I could think about this waiter any further, Silvan came back to the table, who suddenly seemed totally tense.
"Everything okay?" I asked carefully when he sat down in front of me and only then saw that he had only ordered himself a coffee.
"My dad just wanted to know why I crashed across the bridge at 200 km/h," he replied, smiling, but I saw something in the depths of his dark eyes that suggested he was hiding something from me.
It was okay, I didn't need to know everything and probably didn't want to.
While quiet conversations were going on around us and the sun was slowly getting weaker outside, I indulged in my pizza and kept glancing at the waiter, who was cheerfully walking around between the tables.
Silvan probably didn't miss my stare, because when I looked at him briefly, his eyes were also on the waiter.
"What did he do to you?" he asked suddenly and I almost choked on my last piece of pizza.
What kind of question was that?!
"Nothing, why?"
Silvan laughed and shook his head.
"This is Kaidan and he is no ordinary wolf. He has the ability to make you feel what he wants," he explained and then leaned his arms on the table. "That's why I don't like the way he looked at you. Who knows what feelings he's planting in you." Completely surprised, I took a closer look at Kaidan and then also leaned on the table to be even closer to Silvan.
"You mean he can make someone fall in love?" I asked in disbelief, but Silvan denied it immediately.
"Not quite, he can make you feel attracted to him, but that's just a thought. It was implanted in you by him, so it's not your own, so the feeling isn't real."
"Aha," I said in complete amazement and immediately wanted to know if other people had such gifts. After all, this is the first time I've heard of such a thing. With us inferiors there was only the gift of destroying other lives. "Do you have a gift too?"
"I'm strong and I can convey calmness, which is probably more thanks to my training, so no," he said, smiling and taking my hand again. "Besides, I don't need any. I want you to feel with me the way you do, without affecting you." And then I felt it very clearly. This pleasant feeling that Silvan triggered in me with his words was a thousand times stronger than Kaidan's, because they were real feelings.
"I feel very good with you," I then admitted, embarrassed, glancing at our hands that were clasped together.
"And I'm with you too," he replied and just looked at me lovingly for a while, which made me catch my breath.
"By the way, I wanted to thank you," I then interrupted the rigidity. "For not doing anything to my brother."
Silvan's view changed, but not for bad. He became pitying, almost wistful.
"Devin is punished enough that you left. Besides, I would never do anything to someone you care about," he explained in a low voice, and Bene immediately came to my mind.
But there was a huge difference between just provoking Silvan, like Devin did, and joining forces with the enemy in the forest. I had no idea how to talk to Bene about it and somehow I felt bad about hiding it from Silvan at the same time. "Tell me," I then began with a trembling voice and just looked at our hands because I was really nervous about my own question. "Have you ever killed anyone? Well, besides the hunter in the forest?" Out of curiosity, my eyes searched his, but he avoided my gaze and took a deep breath.
"Yes, more than I can bear myself, but that shouldn't bother me, Jade," he replied, as if it were a burden he had to carry and that gave me the certainty that Bene would certainly not get off lightly. Who knows what he had to do with the hunters? Not me, not Silvan... Surely nobody knew and Bene led a double life.
Then, after a while of silence, when Silvan had paid and I avoided looking at Kaidan again, we walked hand-holding back to the car to catch a glimpse of Igor, who was still sleeping like a baby. "He often works the night shifts to keep the forest quiet. He blames himself as the hunters are friends of the man he shot without hesitation."
"I know," I replied quietly, looking at Igor with pity. Somehow everyone here had to bear their own guilt and I felt more and more that I wanted to be there for everyone...
Where did these feelings suddenly come from? Was it because I was the alpha's mate?
I didn't know and resolved to first try to have a conversation with Bene and process this day.
The sun went down, we drove back to the house and for a short while I just enjoyed the wind blowing through my hair through the open window while Silvan's hand was on mine.
