Madam Quartley had decided to officially bring Ruth's child into the Quartley Palace.

Before the departure, Madam Quartley held a long discussion with Rorita.

For the main point of it all was that this child would be Rorita's own in the future. He may be Zorion's flesh and blood, but they were not father and child in name.

"I also won't disclose to Zorion that the child is his, " Madam Quartley stated. "Rorita, I hope you don't mind this added responsibility."

"You're exaggerating Madam Quartley, there's nothing to mind about it. This was originally my own choice, only..." A trace of doubt flashed in her eyes. "Isn't it too early to bring the child back to the palace?"

"Not at all." Madam Quartley refuted, "It was because I didn't know how to care for the child that I kept dragging my feet over it. Now that you're willing to raise him, there's no reason to postpone it any longer. I have, of course, considered what you've said before but a long delay may bring trouble. I still think it's best to bring the child back early."

Rorita did not comment any further after that.

She knew that Madam Quartley had made up her mind. No matter what she said, it would be useless.

Moreover, this day would have come sooner or later.

Madam Quartley and Rorita soon arrived at Ruth's villa.

When Ruth heard that they were going to take her son away, it was as if her entire body had been struck by lightning.

Even though she knew that this day would come, yet when it did, she still could not bear to accept it.

Her eyes fell on her infant son in her arms, a stabbing pain in her heart as if it had been cut into pieces by a knife. Tears instantly fell unbidden from her eyes like rain.

"Plip plop!"

Inadvertently, the tears from Ruth's eyes rolled down her cheeks and down onto the infant's tender, cherubic face.

The little infant, as if he had sensed what was going on, stared up at her with a pair of big, dark eyes. A pause later, that little mouth all of a sudden let out a loud 'Wahl' followed by an onslaught of tears.

His cries just made Ruth's heart break even more.

The tears from both mother and son fell continuously down their faces.

This scene was simply a heartbreaking sight, any who heard and listened to them would be moved to tears.

Rorita turned around straight away, her eyes red around the edges.

Even Madam Quartley wanted to turn around, her heart unable to bear the sight, but she still couldn't after much thought.

This child had to be taken away eventually.

It's better to suffer for a short term than the long run.

"Take this child away," Madam Quartley gave her orders to the servant beside her.

"Miss Welmert, please hand the child to me." said the aforementioned servant as they reached out their hands.

Both of Ruth's hands trembled, agony flashing within her eyes

It was just as the servant was about to receive the child from her when Ruth suddenly retreated a few steps away from them, her child held tight in her embrace.

When Madam Quartley saw Ruth's actions, she called out in a commanding tone of voice, "Ruth Welmert, we've already come to an agreement at that time." Ruth's mouth couldn't stop quivering, unable to speak out a single word. All she did was hold the child even tighter to her.

When Rorita saw how the situation had unfold, she turned back around and entreated, "Madam Quartley, Ruth is a woman who highly values her commitment. Since she had given her word, she will definitely follow through with it. It's just that the parting between mother and child is the most painful thing in the world. Let's give her a little more time, we'll wait outside."

After a moment of hesitation, Madam Quartley finally nodded.

Both of the women walked out the door with the servants in tow. Soon, only Ruth and her child were left in the room.

Ruth held her child in her arms, her

tears still flowing out relentlessly She then laid her face against ker child's own, their tears now stuck on each other.

This was a mix of her tears as well as her child's.

All throughout the child kept on crying and crying until they were blue in the face.

When she heard her child's voice had turned hoarse from wailing his heart out, Ruth finally held back her tears, "My precious baby, we have to stop crying now. Don't cry, don't cry, don't be sad."

She gently swayed her child from side to side while she mumbled these words. With the words of comfort and the swaying motions, the child gradually stopped crying.
