My Heart only Beats for You (Natalie Godfrey) -
Chapter 2450
After reading the financial reports, Yesseca looked gratefully at Ruth. "Ruth, thank you so much for putting so much effort into our shop."
Ruth was heartbroken to see how much skinnier Yesseca had become. But she kept a straight face in front of her.
She simply said, "Don't worry Yesseca. You have nothing to worry about now. I'll take care of your bakery. All you need to do is get better as soon as you can." Yesseca nodded.
She then said, "I knew I had nothing to worry about when I handed the bakery over to you. You and Preslie need to support each other. You both will need to good care of the bakery once I'm gone. I used to joke with Preslie about becoming female presidents of our own company."
"But now.." Yesseca continued, "Now that doesn't seem possible for me anymore. Ruth you'll have to do this for me."
To Ruth, this felt like Yesseca's last words to her. She felt incredibly emotional right now.
"Now, now. Enough about that Yesseca." Ruth sniffed and calmed herself down. "I won't make that dream of yours come true Yesseca. You'll have to do that yourself! Listen to me, you have to! You'll be fine! You brought me to Agaphen City to join your business! Well, I'm here now, so you can't leave yet."
"I have nothing to worry about anymore Ruth." Yesseca explained, "You can run things on your own now."
"No, I can't" Ruth added, "I still need you Yesseca! So, you need to get better!"
"Yesseca, me too!" Preslie chimed in, "Neither I or Ruth can develop the bakery any further than it is now! We need you to grow the business!"
Yesseca sighed.
She knew that Preslie and Ruth really wanted her to recover as soon as possible.
But how could she?
The doctor's diagnosis was basically a death sentence.
As for surviving with someone else's heart, she wouldn't accept that option.
Yesseca kept quiet.
She had no idea how to carry on the conversation.
She could only rely on Preslie and Ruth to take care of her bakery after she passed on.
At least this way, her dreams could live one.
The two of them would rely heavily on the bakery as well.
Some time later, Ruth excused herself. She had to get back to the bakery.
She was the only one in charge of the bakery now and couldn't be away from it for very long.
Preslie took this opportunity to make up an excuse about wanting to inform Ruth about something the bakery needed to do. She met Ruth outside of Yesseca's ward
Preslie then told Ruth the truth about Yesseca's condition and how she was getting worse by the minute.
Aside from getting her a heart transplant, there was nothing else they could do.
Yesseca however, was completely against the idea of getting a heart transplant.
But then again, there hasn't been a donor with a suitable heart for her either.
Ruth couldn't help bursting into tears as she heard this. Beads of tears streamed down her cheeks as she asked, "Is Yesseca really going to die?" Hearing her say 'die' felt like a hammer had smashed Preslie's brain into mush.
She didn't dare think about it.
She refused to think about Yesseca dying.
But Ruth had unconsciously reminded her about this fact.
If things continue as they are now, Yesseca only has one month left to live. Preslie burst out into tears.
Since Yesseca wasn't around, she didn't need to hide her emotions anymore.
Preslie cried so hard, she could barely control herself, "Ruth, I don't want Yesseca to die! But we can't do anything for her! There's nothing we can do!"
"We've tried everything after we came back from the United States! Nothing worked! We can't even find a matching heart donor for her! Are we really going to lose Yesseca?!"
"She only has a month left to live! Am I really going to lose my best friend?!"
