"What are you trying to say?" Tremaine asked.

"Sir, this isn't worth doing for a woman."

Tremaine laughed out loud.

He looked at Hogan and said, "It's not up to you to decide if something is worth it or not. It's up to me, Tremaine Quartley."

"Sir, you can't seriously mean to say that a single woman is more important than all of Nashaland! Think of the country! Think of the people!"

"I have thought about it." Tremaine said, "That's why I chose Elmonde. I firmly believe that he is fully capable for the job both in personal character and capabilities. He might seem a little wet behind the ears now, but after some experience on the job, he can achieve anything."

Having said that, Tremaine then looked at Hogan with a knowing look in his eyes, "Mr. Welmert, you've served me for many years now and are fully aware of how I do things. You know that once I've made a decision, I won't change my mind. Your attempt to persuade me otherwise won't work."

Hogan's heart sank.

He knew this was useless.

If anything he said mattered to Tremaine, then he wouldn't have tried to look for Yesseca in the first place.

But useless as it was, he still had to try.

"Sir, you cannot be serious about resigning for just one woman!" Hogan sighed, "Even though you have faith in Elmonde, he is much too young and inexperienced. If anything goes wrong, there's no knowing how things will turn out!"

"So, Mr. Welmert, there is something I must ask of you." Tremaine looked solemn and very serious.

Hogan was shocked.

Tremaine had always been very proud and arrogant. But now he was asking him for help?

"After I've resigned, please guide Elmonde in his duties. He is definitely capable but need more polish. You are the person that can polish him into a fine president." Tremaine then asked humble, "I beg of you Mr. Welmert, please help mold Elmonde into a leader who can bear these heavy responsibilities!"

"Sir..."

"Mr. Welmert!" Tremaine bowed respectfully, "Please do this for me!"

Hogan felt as thought a mountain was weighing down on him.

He could see there was no room for negotiating here. Tremaine was adamant in his decision.

"Sir!" Hogan quickly pulled Tremaine up, "You are still the president of the country, you shouldn't be begging me for anything! You're making me lose years of my life here! It is

duty to serve you, so of course I will do so! Please get up sir!"

Tremaine breathed out a sigh of relief.

Hogan had agreed to do it.

He felt the last bit of worry inside him float away.

With Hogan's guidance, he was confident that Plmonde would be able to lead Nashaland well.

So even with his resignation, Nashaland was still in good hands.

After Tremaine left, Hogan called Madam Quartley.

He simply sighed and said, "Madam Quartley, it seems he will not change his mind so easily."

Madam Quartley's heart skipped a beat, "Mr. Welmert, you were able to speak to Tremaine? What did he say? Mr. Welmert, you have to change Tremaine's mind!"

Hogan smiled wryly, "I'm afraid there's nothing I can do!"

Madam Quartley's face fell.

Hogan then said, "Madam Quartley, there is one more thing I must mention to you."

She then asked, her voice trembling, "Go ahead."

"I've learned that Yesseca is suffering from an incurable heart condition and doesn't have long to live. I suspect that shortly after the president has resigned, he plans to end his life."

Madam Quartley was alarmed at this news.
