My Heart only Beats for You (Natalie Godfrey) -
Chapter 2479
Rorita also stepped forward then and said, "Mr. Tremaine, please withdraw your decision.'
At this point, she knew that Tremaine had no other choice.
He would never allow his grandmother to die.
Tremaine's thin lips turned down at the corners.
Two minutes later, he suddenly gave out an order, "All of you, leave."
It wasn't until Yuliana had already stepped out of the room that she realized something wasn't right.
She kicked up a fuss then, "Tremaine isn't thinking to get us out from there in order to absolve himself cleanly from all responsibilities by the time Grandma dies, is he? No, I need to go back in." Rorita held Yuliana in place.
"Yuliana, Mr. Tremaine is absolutely not that kind of person. He must have his own reason for sending us out. We shouldn't go in and disturb him."
"But what should we do if Grandma dies?" Yuliana stomped her feet.
If Tremaine was impassive towards his grandmother's death, then Madam Quartley must not die yet. Otherwise, there would be no one left who could restrain him.
Rorita's voice was soft but firm. "Mr. Tremaine wouldn't let her die."
Inside the large living room.
Madam Quartley looked at Tremaine coldly. "What is it that you want to say after sending them away? To tell me how deep your love for Yesseca is? Tremaine, don't bring this up with me anymore, I won't listen! You still have two minutes. If you don't take back your decision now, I'll die in front of you."
Tremaine was silent throughout. In the next moment, with a loud 'thump!', he was kneeling in front of her.
Madam Quartley was thunderstruck.
She stared at Tremaine in disbelief. She even suspected that her old eyes were playing tricks on her, for that was the only way she would be able to see this sort of scene in front of her! Tremaine was on his knees!
He actually knelt down in front of her!
How was this possible?
Her own grandson who had always been very proud!
From a young age till now, he had never knelt down in front of anyone!
Not even to his parents!
Madam Quartley recalled one incident that occurred when he was a child. Tremaine had committed a fault and his father had told him to kneel and apologise.
Tremaine admitted to his fault in the end, but he refused to kneel no matter what.
Tremaine's father had a terrible temper, thus was angered enough to use a whip to lash straight at his son.
However, Tremaine stood there unflinchingly and still refused to kneel. He even said, "There is gold
beneath a man's knees. For menne
these knees are used to stand up and fight, how could we kneel?"
When his father heard it at that time, all his anger was swept away. He even told Madam Quartley afterwards that despite the child's young age, he definitely had huge promise.
Madam Quartley had thought so too.
However, for the past two days, she felt that both of them were mistaken!
Just because one woman was about to die, this man had come up with the idea to live a sequestered life! What a huge promise? It was them who expected too highly of Tremaine! Nevertheless, even if she felt that way about her grandson, she would never in a million years ever think that Tremaine would actually kneel to her.
She stared dumbly at him, unable to come back to her senses for quite some time.
Tremaine's voice was low and hoarse. "Grandmother, towards Nashaland, had no regrets. When was in office, I did my best for the well-being of Nashaland. I never took bribes or perverted the law, nor did do anything to satisfy my own
selfish desires and abandon the country and its people!"
"Even if I abdicate now, I have already chosen my next successor. He is young and promising, whose courage and moral integrity are first-class. Although he might be too young, with a little experience he will become an excellent leader
"As for Mr. Welmert and the old ministers of Nashaland, I've already taken care of them. They will do their utmost to assist the next president."
