My Jealous Alpha Stepbrother -
Chapter 177
Kit
Michelle is staring at me like my suggestion is crazy. I asked her to allow me to fight in my battle form, but my mate is looking at me as if I suggested something horrendous, like death to us both.
“You can’t be serious…” her eyebrows furrow. “Your demon form can barely be controlled! It’s fine if I’m without you, but so far, we have just fooled around. You were teasing me and trying to eat me on the beach, and that was sweet. But can you control yourself around other people, Kitzilla?”
“Kitzilla?” I snort at the nickname, amused she would come up with it. “And I don’t know, but if I lose control in my demonic battle form, then you can just command me to stop doing whatever it is that I’m doing, right?”
Michelle’s eyes shift back to me as she processes what I had said. I can see her mind working as she takes in the possibility of my suggestion and weighs the risks.
“What if you choose to ignore me purposely, or what if that necromancer somehow turns you into a pawn in his army, huh? It’s possible. You’re a demon prince; your dad is possibly the most powerful demon alive. Chances are that you’re stronger than him, and I wouldn’t want Jarq to find a way to use you.”
I can see the fear in her eyes, and it’s making me feel antsy. She’s right, I don’t know the extent of my abilities in battle form. But as much as I want to protect her and keep her safe, I also can’t let her hold me back from doing what I was born to do: protecting her, my mate.
Michelle is the most important person in my life, doesn’t she understand that?
“I understand your concerns, but I need to do this. I need to know what I’m capable of, and I need to fight for our survival. I won’t let anyone hurt you or use me against you, I promise.” I say with a determined tone, hoping to ease her worries.
Michelle sighs, and I can see her resolve finally cracking. “Fine. But if it gets too dangerous, I’m pulling you out. And if you disobey me or try to hurt anyone, I will put you down myself. Got it?”
I grin in amusement. “Think you could take me, huh?” I take a step closer to her, and she shrieks in surprise and tries to flee when I grab her from behind. But I’m faster and lift her above my head, setting her on my shoulders. She meets my eyes in confusion, and I show her my teeth with a bigger grin. “You can control me from there. Just grab my hair and steer me into battle. Make me fight!”
She snorts and shakes her head at me. “You’re an i***t!”
Michelle tries to sound stern, but I can see the hint of a smile on her lips. She reaches down and grips my hair, using it to steer me around like a horse with reins. I can feel her hands tug and pull at me, and I can’t help but feel a little exhilarated by the idea of being controlled by her.
Not on the battlefield, but in bed…
Not on the battlefield, but in bed…
I shake my head, trying to push away those thoughts for now. We have a battle to fight, and my mind needs to be focused. Michelle’s hands tighten in my hair, and I feel a jolt of excitement in my gut.
I glance up at her. “Where am I going?”
“Into the bathroom,” she replies. “I need a good massage in the shower to make me relax. Jarq is out there, and while I know I need a night of sleep before attempting to defeat him, I can’t stop thinking about him.”
I nod and chuckle, unable to resist making a teasing comment. “Well, lucky for you, I happen to be an expert at massaging.”
Michelle snorts and rolls her eyes but doesn’t refuse my offer. I carry her into the bathroom, feeling her hands still tightly gripping my hair. She directs me to the shower and slides down from my shoulders.
I watch her turn on the water, adjusting the temperature to her liking. I can feel her body relax as the warm water cascades down her skin, and I grin in satisfaction. This is my mate, my responsibility, and I will do everything in my power to make her feel safe and loved.
I start massaging her shoulders and neck, feeling the tension slowly releasing from her muscles. My hands move lower, kneading her back and waist, and I can feel her shiver in pleasure. I lean in closer to her, letting my lips brush against her ear, and whisper, “Are you feeling better, love?”
She turns to face me, her cheeks flushed with color. “I’m still worried about tomorrow…”
“Don’t be.”
“What if you will lose control?”
I move closer. “I won’t.”
She pushes her hand against my broad chest, maybe in an attempt to move me, but I don’t even budge. Her beautiful eyes lift to mine, filled with insecurity. “How can you be so sure?”
Her naked body glistens under the water, and my eyes trail down her curves, admiring her beauty.
“I just know,” I whisper in a husky voice and pull her against me with my eyes searing into hers. “We are mates, and I wouldn’t hurt you. Never you.”
I slowly lower myself to take the opportunity to k**s her neck and tease her with gentle nibbles. “You’re too cute to hurt…” I whisper. “Too sweet to get rid of.”
Michelle m***s softly, tilting her head to the side to give me better access to her neck. I continue to k**s and nibble on her neck, my hands roaming over her body, teasing her breasts and running my hands all over her.
Michelle’s hands grip my biceps, and she leans her head back in pleasure. My lips find their way to her mouth, and I k**s her deeply, my tongue exploring her mouth.
I could k**s her forever.
I would never get tired of this.
But I can’t have s*x with her tonight. I need to focus on the battle tomorrow and not get distracted.
I break from our k**s, and both of us are breathing heavily as we stare at each other. My head tilts, and I whisper, “I will protect you, Michelle. No matter what it takes.”
She nods, her eyes shining with trust and love. “I know you will, Kit. I trust you. I love you.”
I k**s her again, this time with more tenderness and less passion. We stay in the shower for a while longer, enjoying each other’s company and basking in the warmth of the water.
As we step out, I wrap a towel around Michelle’s body, drying her off gently. She leans into me, and I hold her close, feeling her warmth against my skin.
We climb into bed, and I pull her close to me, spooning her little body and molding to it. Her cute butt is pressing against my c**k, and I have to suck in a deep breath.
Don’t f**k your mate, don’t f**k your mate, don’t f**k—
“Kit?”
“Mhm?” I shift closer to her and whisper into her ear. “What is it?”
“Do you think there is a way to bring back Bella from the dead?”
My heart aches, and my throat tightens. “No, sweetheart… I’m so sorry, but she’s gone and won’t come back to us.”
Michelle exhales shakily. “I know that, but it doesn’t make the pain of missing her any less. I wish there had been some way I could have saved her. I don’t want her to fight in that zombie army mindlessly. She is a person, not a weapon!”
“I know…” I whisper.
Another sob escapes her lips as tears pour down her cheeks. “I miss her so much,” she whispers brokenly.
I tighten my hold on Michelle, allowing her to cry into my chest. My stomach sinks as I whisper comfortingly, “Me too, baby. Me too.”
I can feel her grief like a storm gathering in the distance, rumbling and churning beneath the surface. I watch her body shake with her sobs, tears falling down her cheeks as she clings to me like her lifeline.
“I’m so scared of losing you too…” she whispers. “What will I do then?”
My lips form a tiny smile. “You won’t lose me. I’m right here, and I’m not going anywhere.”
Michelle doesn’t respond. She buries her face in my chest, probably hoping that if she holds onto me tight enough, she will hold out this hurt.
My soul, my heart, every part of me is aching for her.
I try to console her by kissing her hair and holding her as close as possible, but deep inside, I know nothing can stop this pain from overtaking her.
She lost a sister. The pain won’t leave her; riding it out is the only option.
