My Mate Is An Omega -
My Mate Is A Virgin Chapter 5
Jasper POV
As the first golden rays of the morning invaded the room through the semi-open curtains, I couldn't help but admire the way they shone over her immaculate porcelain skin. Now with proper lighting, I could finally examine the details of her delicately sculpted frame. Even in her sleep, the stern lines in Andromeda's face didn't go away; it made me think she would promptly rip off anyone's hand if they dared touch her. Did that apply to me as well?
Probably. She was obviously still mad at me.
We shared my king-sized bed during our first night together, but as hard as it was, I didn't touch her. It was also impossible to fall asleep with her beside me; although her presence made my whole body relax, my mind was still troubled. Part of me couldn't wait to know her every inch, but my shameful past kept holding me back. As much as I wanted to give my princess what she wanted, I couldn't bring myself to do it - not before I proved to her that she was nothing like the other girls I had. "You're such a f*****g i***t," Phoenix scoffed.
"What am I supposed to do? f**k her just to find my release, like I did with everyone else?"
"No. I think we have to worship her before we even think of getting our dirty paws on her." Great - at least there was one thing we could agree on. "But don't pretend you're doing this for her. You know you're only doing this for yourself." "Yeah, I know I'm selfish as s**t, okay? Which is why I'm trying to-"
"Don't gimme that bullshit! I can read your mind, you i***t!" He promptly cut me off, glaring at me. "You can lie to yourself all you want, but you can't lie to me. I know you're only refusing to mate with her because you want to have your own redemption. She made it clear that she doesn't give a f**k about it, so the only problem here is you. You can't bring yourself to face what you've done and be honest about it. As always, you're taking the easy way out by believing that treating her differently will magically erase your past." "Wow, you're so good at reading people!" I barked back sarcastically. "It's a shame wolves can't be shrinks!" I know he was ready to continue arguing with me, but the angelic feminine voice made us both go silent.
"You won't mate with me, but you have no problem eye-f*****g me?" I had to blink a few times to process Andromeda's words. s**t! I was so absorbed in my conversation with my wolf that I didn't even realize she had woken up. "That's kinda f****d up, don't you think?"
"I...I just..." I sighed in defeat. Why couldn't I get one thing right with her? "I'm sorry."
"Whatever." There it was - the same annoyed look she gave me yesterday when I told her I wasn't ready to mark her yet. I felt a twinge of guilt as I watched her roll over to sit by the edge of the bed. With her back turned to me, she glanced over her shoulder. "Come on. We must join your Alpha and my mother for breakfast..." A frown stained her pretty face. "And tell her we haven't mated yet."
Unwilling to frustrate her any further, I got up so we could get ready. I let her use the en-suite bathroom first, both out of chivalry, and because staring at her in the dark t-shirt I had lent her was doing something to me... down there. It didn't really help much when she changed into the same tight dress she had worn the night before, though. As much as my eyes wanted to linger on her curves, I figured it wouldn't be a wise decision. Instead, I rushed to the shower, hoping the cold water would put out my fire.
Once we were both dressed, I gathered the courage to reach for her hand, and she reluctantly allowed me to take it. When the sparks from our touch coursed through me, I had to push Phoenix to the back of my mind to prevent him from taking over, since he would definitely attempt to ruin my plans by marking her in a blaze of l**t. With each step I took, I made sure to take a deep breath in order not to lose focus.
And, together, my mate and I did our walk of shame towards the private dining room.
Despite our bond not being completed yet, I could sense Andromeda's hesitation. She held her head high as she walked beside me, and it was impossible to distinguish any emotions in her stone face, but I could still feel it. Was I making her uncomfortable? No, she only seemed to be angry at me, maybe frustrated. Was she embarrassed to tell the Queen that we hadn't done anything last night? And would she have to tell her why? My stomach turned at the thought. It was already hard enough to confess my sins to my mate; I don't think I could repeat everything to her mother.
Before I had time to mentally prepare myself for what was about to happen, we arrived at our destination. Caitlyn and Lance were already there, along with the Beta couple and, of course, the Lynx Queen. Except for the few Omegas setting the table, all eyes turned to us as soon as we walked into the room, causing my heart to stop. If it weren't for my mate pulling me towards our seats by my hand, I would have just stood there frozen.
"Good morning, Princess Andromeda. Gamma Jasper." The Luna was the first to greet us with her characteristic kind smile. The Alpha did the same, flashing me a suggestive wink. Oh, if only he knew.
Both Andromeda and I bowed our heads at her mother, who squinted her eyes slightly as she watched us take our seats. I avoided looking at her in hopes it would make her leave us alone, but it obviously wouldn't happen.
"I see that you haven't marked my daughter, Gamma Jasper. I'll assume you two haven't mated yet either," Queen Nymeia finally stated, forcing me to look at her. When I did, I realized she was staring daggers at my mate, not at me. "I hope she hasn't been giving you a hard time."
As I tried to think of what to say, Andromeda squeezed my hand so tight it made my bones crack, clearly telling me to hurry up. "Of course not, your Majesty. Your daughter is...more than I could have ever asked for, really," I replied with honesty, glancing at my mate only to realize she didn't even bother looking at me. "It's just... I don't think I'm ready to become king yet. Actually, I-"
"The Gamma is concerned about the vows he's made to our pack," Caitlyn chimed in, yet again coming to my rescue. "My Alpha and I assured him we all understand he has a duty with his mate and your clan now, but he's still reluctant about leaving us hanging." Judging by how Lance winced suddenly, I realized she must have elbowed him underneath the table.
"Yes. Exactly." He cleared his throat, straightening himself on the chair before turning to the Queen. "Which is why I wanted to propose that Andromeda stay here with us until they complete the marking process. This way, they won't have to be separated while Gamma Jasper trains another wolf to take the position."
I immediately knew this had to be Caitlyn's idea; there was no way my slow-thinking friend would have come up with all of this by himself. It also meant that she was probably expecting me not to mark my mate. Goddess, just how smart was this woman? I couldn't help but appreciate how she was going out of her way to help me fix the mess I had made. I turned to glance at my mate to try to guess what her opinion was regarding my leaders' idea and was surprised to notice the corner of her lips had turned up in a small smile. I couldn't really understand why she seemed so happy, but it was relieving that she didn't look mad anymore.
"Hm. You have a valid point, Alpha Lancaster," Nymeia finally revealed. "I believe the experience will be good for Princess Andromeda as well. However, I will feel more comfortable sending a guard to accompany her during her stay."
"Of course." The Luna nodded. "Any and all members of your clan are welcome in Diamond Tempest."
"It's settled, then." Lance clapped his hand once, a satisfied smile on his face. "We should eat before the food gets cold!"
The details of Andromeda's stay were discussed throughout breakfast. Although it was weird to have other people arrange how the situation would work, I was actually glad I didn't have to make any decisions myself and risk f*****g something else up. It was decided that her guard, whoever they were, would live in one of the spare houses near the pack house, while my mate would be moving in with me; I didn't know if I was happy or scared about it though.
Once we were done eating, Queen Nymeia returned to her guest suite to gather her things to leave. The Alpha kindly allowed me to spend the next few hours helping my mate settle in, but he told me to meet him at his office by the next morning so we could discuss the "new Gamma" matter - which I honestly hadn't even considered, really. In fact, there was so much I still had to think about. However, considering my current situation with my mate, I wanted to focus on fixing it before taking care of the rest.
Since Andromeda's belongings would only arrive in about an hour, I decided to take her to the game room on the first floor of the Town Hall - it would help kill time while also allowing me a chance to learn more about her. In a public environment. With lots of pack members. Where I definitely wouldn't have the opportunity to pin her against a wall and tear her clothes off if I happened to lose control.
"Do you know how to play chess?" I asked as I led her to one of the tables. She still seemed annoyed at me, and I could tell she wanted to slap me in the face for proposing something so frivolous when I clearly knew what she wanted. But she didn't. "If I know how to play it?" She huffed, already taking her place. "I'm a master at it."
A big grin lit up my face. "Really? I'd be honored if you showed me your skills, princess."
"With pleasure." She mimicked my gesture.
As soon as we started playing, I noticed she was really good - possibly the best player I ever faced. It made sense; aside from being quite strong individually, cat shifters were notorious for their big brains. As next in line to become queen, Andromeda must be one of the most intelligent members of her clan.
However, it was still not enough to beat me.
"Check mate," I uttered proudly once I had her king cornered.
"Impossible!" She frowned at the chess board, her blue eyes moving quickly as she tried to find anything wrong with my previous moves. When she couldn't, she turned to me with a mix of indignation and curiosity. "No one has ever beaten me before." "There's a first time for everything, isn't there?"
She studied me for a while longer before her troubled expression turned into a conformed one, and she stood up from her seat. "It doesn't matter. Enjoy your victory while it lasts, Jasper Stray, because I assure you, you will not beat me in any other games." I had a response planned, but before I could even open my mouth, the princess tripped on the foot of the wooden table, causing her to lose her balance. Instinctively, I used my werewolf speed to rise to my feet, and successfully caught her in time. She wrapped both her hands around my neck for support. I didn't realize her true intentions until she lifted her face up, a triumphant smile on her face.
"Sorry. I can be quite clumsy sometimes." She forced a giggle. Clumsy? This woman walked with the posture of a general of the army! Allowing me no time to react, she ran her long nails tortuously slowly up my scalp, causing me to release a groan as she dug her fingers inside my messy hair. "Thank you for catching me... my King." Her mouth was inches away from mine, her hot breath against my lip making my entire body hit up.
What was she doing to me? I had a feeling she knew too well. As I held her against my body, too stunned to release her from my embrace, I couldn't help but stare into her hypnotizing eyes. Then her delicious lips. Then her... Oh, Goddess! Why did her dress have to be so f*****g tight?! The way it pressed her well-endowed breasts together, almost making them pop out of the cleavage... f**k! Think about your non-existing grandma, Jasper! Think about anything else aside from how badly you want to suck those- "Do you have something in your pocket, Gamma?" Her fake, innocent voice made all the air leave my lungs. It took me a moment to realize what she was talking about, but when I did, I froze.
"In m-my pocket?" I stuttered.
"Yeah. Something... hard." She arched an eyebrow at me, and without warning, let her hand slide down my chest. "Should I check what it is?"
I glanced over the room, realizing everyone else was too entertained with their own matches to notice us. When I turned back to her, she was wearing the meanest, most perverse grin I had ever seen. Her hand reached my lower abdomen, successfully setting my whole being on fire. I was getting so hard I was afraid my erection would pop a whole in my jeans. Sweat started dripping down my forehead as I tried to stop her, but my body didn't respond to me. I was completely under her control now. "Princess Andromeda's belongings are here." The Beta's voice suddenly invaded my mind, giving me something else to focus on. "I've sent a team to go get her stuff, but they need you to open the door to your room." "Awesome! Thank you so much, Luke!" I replied in relief.
"Uh... You're welcome?" His tone was full of confusion, but I didn't have time to explain.
As soon as I cut our connection, I took two steps backwards, establishing a safe distance between me and my mate. She was clearly displeased, but probably noticed someone had linked me from the way my eyes clouded over. "What happened?" She practically growled.
"The car your mother sent has just arrived," I revealed, still trying to stabilize my heart rate. "I assume the guard your mother mentioned has brought them. We shouldn't keep them waiting."
"Oh." Her expression suddenly changed, and it made me uneasy. "You're right, we definitely shouldn't! Besides, I can't wait to introduce the two of you" She walked by me, heading towards the entrance of the pack house. I had no choice but to follow her. And when we stepped outside, I had one hell of a surprise.
Standing right next to the car was a tall, buff dude. He had umber skin and long dreadlocks that fell down his back. The moment his piercing yellow eyes landed on me, I immediately got bad vibes from him. At first, I hoped he would be the driver, but when the vehicle took off, leaving a pile of boxes behind, I realized he could only be the ward the Queen had mentioned.
"Ah, Princess Andromeda! It's good to see you again!" The guy flashed my mate a yellow smile as he marched closer to us. My eye twitched as I watched him wrap his arms tightly around my mate, and I had to clench my fists. When he finally let her go, he turned to me, eyeing me from head to toe. "And you must be her...mate."
"Precisely." I forced a smile as I stretched my hand out to greet him.
"Wade, this is Jasper, my mate. Jasper, this is Wade, my ward for the time being." Dree waved her hands at us. Judging by her light expression, I could tell she was having fun. "I'm sure the two of you will get along really well!" "Definitely!" The man replied. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get your stuff to your temporary room," he suggested, pointing at the boxes that the Omegas were already starting to grab.
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off with this dude. Relax, Jasper, I told myself. This is just her guard. He's not competition. Is he?
Setting my hunch aside, I picked up two of the boxes, ignoring the workers' attempts to stop me. As we carried all of Andromeda's belongings to my room, I tried to keep calm as she had a casual conversation with that Wade dude. Once all of the boxes had been moved upstairs, the Omegas left to allow us some privacy as we unpacked everything.
"So this is where you'll be staying?" The dark-skinned man took a good look around. Just his voice made the hairs on the back of my neck rise. "A little downgrade from your real room, but it should work for now."
His comment sounded quite aggressive to me, but once again, I tried to convince myself it was all in my head. The three of us worked to place Andromeda's thousands of clothes inside of my closet and store her personal items until all of the boxes were empty. The guard didn't leave us alone through the rest of the day, even after my various attempts to get him to take a hint. As annoying as it was to have him follow us around everywhere as I took the time to properly show my mate around her temporary home, I suppose he was just doing his job.
However, I would be lying if I said I wasn't relieved when night came, and he finally had to leave so we could all go to sleep.
"Good night, Princess Andromeda." Wade bowed at her as he stood by the door. He turned around to go his own way, but before he did, he said something that confirmed all of my suspicions. "Oh, and don't forget - if your mate doesn't have the balls to give you what you want...you know who does." He winked at her before closing the door behind him.
And just like that, I was boiling with anger.
