My Mate Is An Omega
My Mate Is A Virgin Chapter 9

Andromeda POV

It was actually good for my sanity to spend a few hours away from my shy, complicated mate. The bond between us made it hard for me to not lose sight of what I wanted, and being without him for a while gave me the chance to clear my mind. I felt something different during our date the previous night - something deeper than plain desire. For a brief moment, I was able to see the fear and insecurity in my wolf's eyes, and it almost made me give in to his wishes of taking our relationship slow...but I wouldn't. I, Andromeda Tudor Barclay Charlemagne, always get what I want.

This time, it would be no different.

Thankfully, my mate-free day helped me remember my goals. Wade was with me the whole time, but I actually enjoyed his company. As welcoming as the pack was, wolves were very different from cats, and having him with me made me feel more at home. We always had a good relationship as well; he could be a bit pushy at times about having something more with me, but it didn't really bother me. In fact, considering my current situation with my future king, I knew I could use it to my advantage. A low blow, I know, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

After informing me about everything happening at home, we decided to enjoy the sunny afternoon by going on a stroll around the territory, which soon became tedious. In an attempt to entertain me, Wade came up with a rather brilliant idea to pass the time - karaoke. We headed to the game room, which was empty due to the fact that most wolves were busy with work, allowing us some much welcomed privacy.

Singing was a common habit for cats, but I hadn't done it since I left home. Not because I needed to be surrounded by other lynxes to sing; in fact, we mostly did it when we were all by ourselves. However, it was hard to feel in the mood for it when everyone around me could only bark and howl. I had never joined Wade in a duet before, but it felt so good to release my voice that I barely noticed the hours fly by.

I only realized how much time must have passed when I noticed my mate standing by the door, while Wade and I were singing "The Time of My Life." At first, I couldn't understand the look of anger on his face, but it didn't take me long to realize that, because he didn't know a lot about cat customs, our karaoke session could easily be misinterpreted. I considered stopping mid-song to explain to him what exactly we were doing, but a mischievous idea crossed my mind - maybe I could make him jealous so I could push him just a bit further.

Probably confused and taken by surprise by the situation, Jasper waited until we were done singing to do something. Wade hadn't even noticed him until he cleared his throat. My mate barely acknowledged the guard's presence, his eyes locked on me as he came closer.

"I'm free for the day. Should we go back to our room?" There was something different about his voice, and I didn't miss it. It wasn't hesitant like usual; it was sharp, with a hint of desperation.

"Come on, don't be a party-killer!" Wade chimed in, forcing Jasper to look at him with displeasure. "Why don't you join us? I mean, you can sing, right?"

There was dead silence as they stared at each other, the tension so thick you could cut it with a knife. It was then that I realized what was happening - it was a challenge.

"Of course, I can sing!" My mate barked, not bothering to hide his offense as he headed towards the karaoke machine to pick a song.

Oh, s**t. He was definitely acting out of impulse, but unlike when he asked me out on a date, I didn't think the outcome of this situation would be any pleasant.

"Wait, Jasper, you don't-" Completely ignoring me, he pressed the play button.

Goddess help us all.

The second Purple Rain started playing, my heart beat faster. Wade was leaning against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest and a victorious smile on his face, as if he could already tell what was going to happen. It all happened too fast, and before I knew it, my mate opened his mouth. And the sound that came out of it made me question if it was really singing, or if he was dying and crying for help.

Jasper didn't even make it to the chorus before Wade burst out laughing.

"You can't be serious!" My guard's words made the Gamma frown. "Is this how you intend to impress the princess? What a wonderful mating call!" He continued to laugh, as both my mate and I remained in silence.

Before I could even think of what to say, Jasper glared daggers at me, and without saying a word, he rushed out of the room. Oh, s**t. My plan had backfired. s**t!

"Jasper, wait!" I cried out, finally realizing how bad the situation was.

When he ignored me, I instinctively started running after him, while Prince was still comically playing in the background. I heard Wade's steps as he readied himself to follow me, but one look was all it took to let him know I wanted him to stay out of this. Jasper was already in the middle of the town square when I finally caught up to him. "Damn it, stop running!" I yelled in frustration. Why the hell was I chasing him?

Thankfully, he did as I said, but when he turned around, the furious look on his face made me stop too. "Why didn't you tell me singing was important to cats? And what the f**k is up with that anyway?!"

"Well, I tried to stop you, but you fell for Wade's tease!" I recalled. When I noticed he was about to turn his back to me again, I realized I would have to change my tactics. Pulling him by the arm, I managed to catch his attention. "Don't worry, it's not a big deal." He raised an eyebrow at me, and I sighed. How could I put this in terms he would understand? "With you wolves, mates have a unique fragrance that is unique and stronger than any other smell. Think of it as it being the same for us, cats, but with voices instead of scent."

He lowered his guard down, a glisten of hope in his eyes. "And what do I sound like to you?"

"Uh... I'd say it's something like...like a goose with something stuck in its throat?" I smiled apologetically.

He scrunched his brows before turning around and continuing towards the outskirts of the territory, making me follow him yet again. "That's like smelling like puke to your mate, and you knew it! You knew it, and you still let me make a fool of myself!" he complained. Luckily, there was no one around to watch him throw a fit.

"Just hear me out for a second!" I used my werecat speed to jump ahead of him, blocking his path. He huffed in frustration, but didn't move. I finally lowered my tone, realizing I had been able to catch his attention. "I think you got it wrong. Yes, you sing terribly for the standards of most cats, but...I like it." I showed him a sincere smile.

"That's the equivalent of saying you enjoy the smell of fresh vomit," he stated blankly. Caught off guard, I had to cover my mouth with one hand to hold back my giggle.

"It's not." I slowly reached out for his hand, noticing how my touch immediately made him relax. "You see, all cats have such beautiful voices. Take Wade for example. His voice is so sweet, and soft, and alluring-"

"Can we please not talk about him?" he screeched.

"Just wait, Jasper!" I looked into his eyes, interlacing our fingers. "What I mean is, his voice is almost identical to most cats'. It's beautiful, but it lacks...personality." He c****d his head to the side, finally showing interest in my explanation. "Your voice is strong, and deep. It's intimidating, even when you're not confident in yourself. It's also husky...in a sensual way." I stepped closer, never breaking eye contact. I noticed the way his breathing was getting ragged as his body responded to mine, and it made me feel so satisfied. "It turns me on like nothing else." I whispered into his ear, feeling a low growl reverberate in his chest as it pressed against mine. Wanting to take advantage of the situation, I pushed closer to him, diving my nose into his neck to sniff his scent. "Is this what I smell like to you?"

"..Kinda," he breathed out, clearly unable to collect his thoughts.

"Would you care to elaborate, my prince?" My hot breath against his skin caused him to tighten his grip around me.

He pulled me away just slightly, holding me firmly by my arms. I could see his eyes turning a more vivid, animalistic shade of blue before he closed them, taking a deep breath as if to gather courage. When he opened his eyes again, he looked a lot more vulnerable... and it made my insides melt.

"Your scent reminds me of flames, but not like ash or coal. It's hot, and I mean hot like a blazing fire. It lures me in, but I don't care if I get burned." He took a strand of my golden hair between his fingers, bringing it up to his nose. A groan escaped his lips when he breathed it in, his pale blue eyes shifting to an intense white color. "It doesn't feel dangerous though. It has this unique, tropical sweetness that makes it incredibly addicting."

A playful smile lit up my face as I leaned closer. "Good to know I don't smell like s**t to you either."

Whether it was the relief he felt after the stressful event, or simply his wolf giving in to the bond between us, he didn't fight it when I pressed my lips against his. I didn't go fast, though; I guess I was guilty for letting him go through such embarrassment, and it felt wrong to take advantage of his vulnerability. Instead, I allowed him to work at his own pace, simply following his lead.

Letting a male take control was a first for me. Female cats were usually the dominant ones in a relationship, even when they shared a partner. As a born queen, the instinct of being in charge was even stronger for me. Still, I couldn't deny that it was interesting to fully give myself to my mate. Even if I knew he would move slower than I wanted to, it felt good to just get lost in the moment as he led the way.

As his tongue passionately danced with mine, occasionally brushing against my teeth and my lips, he gently snaked both of his arms around my waist, holding me even closer to his body. The way he pressed his mouth harder against mine, slightly forcing my head back... He was slowly letting go of his self-control. I quickly wrapped my hands around his neck for balance as he deepened our kiss even further. Although we were both running out of breath, he didn't seem willing to pull away any time soon, and I loved it. We would probably have suffocated - I wouldn't have minded that one bit - if it weren't for a sudden, annoying sound. More precisely, a ringtone.

Jasper grunted in annoyance, his tongue retreating as his pointy teeth carefully nibbled on my bottom lip. From his hesitancy, I knew he considered ignoring whoever was calling him, but as he came back to his senses, he probably realized it could be an urgent matter; after all, shifters rarely called each other.

He finally pulled away after huffing, clearly displeased by the inconvenience, and digging his hand inside of his front pocket to reach for his phone. I wasn't the type to invade anyone's privacy, but when my eyes accidentally landed on the screen, I couldn't help but read a name. A girl's name.

And for some reason, it made Genevra hiss inside my head..
