For a moment, I was at a loss for words. When did I say these words? When did I ruin his true feelings?

Choking on his anger, Hendrix stared at me. I suppressed my own anger and said calmly, "Send her back to change her clothes!"

Hendrix did not move and but just stared at me, "So, you admit that you have said those words?

I frowned and felt like cursing at him. A sliver of my true emotions slipped out "Hendrix, is your brain water- logged? You'll just blindly believe whatever she says?"

"That's why I'm asking you, did you say that?" He looked at me seriously and enunciated each word, "If you say that you didn't, I will believe you!"

Rowane probably didn't expect Hendrix to be so rational. For a moment, she paled.

I was also stunned. I wanted to speak up for him, but I hesitated for a moment. I had been trying my best to push him away, and if I spoke true, wouldn't that mean Rowane was right? "Why don't you just take her back first!" Since we were to be separated, there was no need to prolong things.

I turned around to leave when Hendrix grabbed my hand. His eyes were stormy as he stared at me for a while before he suddenly smiled. "Arianna, you are truly amazing!"

The voice was especially cold, as if one was gnashing their teeth in a display of extreme anger.

I felt a jolt in my heart, but I shook off his hand and went back to the private room of the restaurant.

Mr. Attwood had finished eating and was chatting with Hugo. When he saw me coming in, he smiled in welcome and said, "Where did you go? I see that you didn't eat much, so Hendrix, that little rascal, ordered a bowl of porridge for you."

I was stunned for a moment. Indeed, there was a bowl of porridge on the table.

With a faint smile, I said to Ziglar, "Thank you!"

About 10 minutes later, as I ate my porridge, Hendrix brought Rowane in.

"Hhm, both of you have only been out for a moment, now you are holding each other's hands having changed your clothes? Where have you two been?" Ziglar opened his mouth and laughed. The old man liked to joke, causing the entire table of people to turned their attention to him.

As I was eating the porridge with my head down, upon hearing Ziglar's words, I instinctively looked up and saw exactly what he described. Both of them were holding hands, and both of their clothes were changed as well.

They looked like they were intimate.

I knew that they had just changed their clothes after falling into the water, but the others probably didn't know.

I had thought that Hendrix would explain, but he only smiled and didn't say anything else.

Rowane looked little shy but didn't say a word either.

At first, it made sense if the others had misunderstood. But now, looking at the way they acted, they do feel like a real couple.

I lowered my head and continued to eat my porridge, pushing all thoughts away and tried not to pay much attention to it. Immediately after lunch, I threw myself into work.

After helping me with the immunization shot, Hugo told me that the work of the work that needed to be accomplished that afternoon. He said also that as most of the work on the base grounds required manpower, it would be tough if there weren't enough workers.

I was glad for the distraction. Hard, tough work was a good way for me to forget the things troubling my heart.

I helped out with selecting the appropriate equipment and materials from a large box Hugo had brought. When he walked past, he joked, "Miss Reid, this is the first time a woman has come to the site and got her hands dirty. Everyone was thinking about not letting you work, but you have been helping us a lot. Thank you for your hard work!"
