"Mr. Roberts, may I sit here?" Irvin did not wait for a reply and sat. Then he called the waiter over to order more dishes.

Hendrix pressed his lips together and did not comment.

That was when I saw something on Hendrix's mouth. Without a thought, I took out a tissue and reached out to wipe it for him. It was instinctive. Hendrix jerked in surprise. I scolded, "You're already so old, yet you're still so careless when you're eating. You even got your mouth dirty."

Very quickly his surprise changed to happiness. Did my sudden move put him in a good mood? It seemed like it did.

It took me a second to realize that Irvin was frowning. He lowered his head to avoid watching me and Hendrix. I had completely forgotten that we were not alone and felt bad for him. Did he feel as if we were showing off in front of him?

It would be awkward to ask that question so I shoveled food into my mouth and ate my previously rejected breakfast quietly.

After breakfast, Hendrix followed me to the base with the excuse that I needed to take care of

him. Instead of going into the office, he attended most of his meetings by video calls.

At the base, I was busy running back and forth between work and Hendrix. His excuse was that he needed help, whether it was getting a drink or helping him with his documents.

As a result, I was exhausted.

When I came out of Hendrix's office after yet another task of helping him with emails, Hugo handed me a bottle of water and said with a smile, "Looks like Mr. Roberts is here to look after his wife!"

I blushed a little but protested, "No, Mr. Lance, you misunderstood. He injured his hand yesterday and needed some assistance. That's why he followed me here today."

He smiled and said, "Maybe. But that doesn't explain why he would especially call you away after Mr. Ganger talked to you."

I startled at his observation then smiled.

Hugo wasn't wrong. Whenever Irvin spoke to me, Hendrix would call me away, interrupting him.

Hugo saw my grin and joked, "Looks like your work today will be a little tiring!"

Who could deny it!

While we were talking, Irvin walked in with a bag of fruits. After distributing some to the staff, he approached me and offered some to me. 'Arianna, my assistant brought some fruits over. You must be tired, take a rest and eat some!"

Before I could reply, my phone rang.

Hugo immediately burst out laughing. He took the fruits from Irvin and nudged me with a smile, "Miss Reid, you sure are busy."

I sighed. He was right.

It was indeed Hendrix calling me. Again.

I answered the phone and heard his deep voice. "I want some water!"

I touched my forehead. "Didn't I put a glass on the table for you?"

"I drank it already!" He said.

"Okay!"

I hung up the phone and looked at Irvin apologetically, "Sorry, I have something else to do. I'll go first."

I turned around and walked into Hendrix's office.

In the office.

Hendrix was leaning back in his chair lazily. His Bluetooth headset was still on his ear. It seemed like he was still in a meeting, and the glass of water was still on the table. Untouched

I ground out. "There's still water in the glass, isn't there? What did you call me here for?"

He was like a child.

He looked up at me and ordered, "Evan brought some pastries with him when he arrived. Please cut some for me!"

I frowned. "Since he's here. Why didn't he get it for you?"
