My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1169
Oblivious to my response, Andrea continued to mock me over the phone, "Miss Reid, if you really want Hendrix to return, I will let him know later. He might go back to you later. But don't wait up. After all, if the dishes are cold, it would not be tasty."
I couldn't take it anymore. I hung up the phone and looked at the dishes on the table. I felt completely ridiculed!
Love?
Trust?
It was all bullsh*t!
I returned to my bedroom, my mind was filled with the sarcastic words Andrea had spoken. It was ridiculous that I thought I didn't care at all. But in reality, my heart ached and I couldn't sleep all night. Lying in bed, my brain could not calm down. My thoughts played back to the painful memories. I recalled how bad he had treated me in the past... And how all the happiness and warmth that I recently felt have all disappeared.
I couldn't fall asleep no matter how hard I tried. I started to feel painful cramps from menstruation again. Perhaps it was because I had gotten some
chills from the cold running water while preparing vegetables...
Perhaps it was also still early, or because I was not very sleepy... Whatever the reason was, I still couldn't sleep. So, finally I decided to give up trying.
I got up and went straight to the study and continued reading the book.
Suddenly, the sound of a car engine could be heard from downstairs and the lights in the yard lit up once again. My grasp on the book tightened, "Has he come back so soon?"
I continued to read, but I couldn't focus. After sometime, I put down the book and went downstairs.
Seeing that there wasn't anyone in the living room, I shifted my gaze towards the kitchen. There at the dining table was a man wearing a black suit. Sitting very upright at the dining table, he looked particularly elegant.
The cold dishes were still on the table. He sat at the table and ate elegantly.
I looked at him, anger and pain burned in my chest. I felt uncomfortable as waves of emotions swirled in me.
It had been two hours since Andrea answered the call. Everything that could happen between them, would have already happened...
"The dishes are cold. Mr. Roberts, you should take care of your precious health, you shouldn't eat them," I said in a cold and distant manner.
Hendrix turned around and saw me. He was slightly stunned, and then, there was an indescribable emotion on his handsome face. He asked, "Did I wake you up?"
These words sounded gentle and caring, but at that moment, I felt disgusted.
I chuckled and walked to the side of the table and said indifferently, "No, these dishes have gone cold and stale. Don't eat them!" Then, regardless of whether he had started eating or not, I poured all the dishes into the trash can.
My movements were quite smooth, without the slightest hesitation.
"Arianna!" He looked at me. It was obvious that he didn't understand what I was doing.
I pursed my lips and said mockingly, "Mr. Roberts, you would have eaten your fill outside. There's no need to force yourself to eat these stale dishes."
He frowned, the faint anger that he had suppressed began to boil, "Do you have to be so eccentric?"
I was stunned for a moment then laughed. I looked at him and said calmly, "Well, I've always been so eccentric. You should have known this a long time ago, Mr. Roberts."
