My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1208
The old couple was frantic, crying and screaming while holding the child in their arms. Estella looked at me anxiously.
No one knew exactly what was going on with the child. He had stayed here all day, and I had asked someone to give him food just now. If something happened to the child, it would eventually implicate the Roberts Group.
I wasn't the only one who thought this, and clearly the other staff were thinking of the implications. Estella was even more flustered. After all, she had bought the food and had sent them out personally. She looked at me and was on the verge of tears. Her eyes were red and swollen. She said in a choked voice, "Mrs. Roberts, what should we do?"
I took a deep breath and calmed down. Then, I looked at Sonia's parents, and said, "Hello, I am the wife of Hendrix Roberts, the chairman of Roberts Group. If you trust me, could I have your attention?" The elderly couple was so shocked by the child's sudden loss of consciousness that they did not know what to do. They were desperate when they saw me and grabbed me with all their might. "Mrs. Roberts, I beg you, please save our granddaughter! Please save her!"
I nodded and tried my best to calm her down. Then I said, "Listen to me. The most important thing now is the safety of the child. Let's call an ambulance immediately and bring the child to the hospital, okay? As for anything else, we can wait until we make sure the child is safe, okay?"
The middle-aged couple paused for a moment and looked at each other. After hesitating for a moment, they looked at me and said, "Okay, we believe you, but don't try to play any tricks. My daughter died an unnatural death. The Roberts Group must pay for her death."
I nodded and didn't think much about it. I gave Estella a look and she immediately called the ambulance. However, it will take too long for an ambulance to arrive so I had no choice but to personally drive her to the hospital.
After sending the child to the emergency room, the nurse came forward, looked at us and asked, "Which of you is the child's family?"
The middle-aged couple said at the same time, "We are the child's grandparents. What's wrong with our granddaughter, doctor?"
The nurse nodded and said, "We are not sure about the child's condition yet. Please go to the first floor for registration, and pay the fee first. We will immediately inform you when the results come out." The middle-aged couple froze and revealed an embarrassed expression on their faces when they heard this. Upon noticing the abnormal looks on their faces, I said, "Give me her identity card. I'll go and make the payment."
Both of them were stunned, and their eyes instantly turned teary. They looked at me and said, "Mrs. Roberts, thank you, thank you so much."
I didn't say anything. After I took the child's identity card, I went off to pay the fee.
When I came back, I handed the medical records and the identity card back to the middle-aged couple. The child's grandmother looked at me and thanked me with red eyes.
I nodded but did not say anything. My phone rang several times. I had been busy just now, so I had no time to check my phone. It was Hendrix calling me, and he had sent me a few messages as well. "Where have you gone? Why aren't you answering your phone?"
I replied to his text message, "Why don't you sleep for a while more?" I am in the hospital now. Sonia's daughter suddenly fainted, and I sent them over to the hospital. You should sleep for a while more. Your health is more important. There is no need for you to worry about this, I'll handle it.
After I replied, I put my phone back into my bag. The child's grandmother looked at me and said, "Mrs. Roberts, do you feel that we are being shameless?"
