Linda was not stupid. After she heard what I said, she looked at me and asked, "Is the incident in Oakland related to the Roberts Group?"

I didn't intend to hide it from her. I answered, "The Milton family wanted to get their hands on the management of foreign trade of Oakland, but the Hayes family had handed over the authority to Hendrix. So, they kidnapped Hendrix and tried to force him to sign the contract to transfer the authority, but it didn't work. At last, they were investigated by the police."

Her face was pale and her brows were furrowed. For a moment, she could not say anything.

Rowane glanced at Hendrix with worry and concern in her dark eyes. However, she didn't ask anything. Instead, she looked at Linda and said, "It seems that the Milton family are willing to do anything to make money!"

Linda was silent. After a while, she looked at Hendrix and said, "Mr. Roberts, I know I can't change your decision, but I will do my best to protect the Milton Group's project in Asherton."

Hendrix glanced at her and didn't answer. He just looked at Rowane and said, "Contact the police and the lawyer now!"

Then, he pulled me out of the warehouse.

In the car, I held back for a long time, but I still couldn't help but ask, "Hendrix, did you already know about this incident at Lancille Village before today?"

Rowane mentioned that a mistake had occurred during the construction process, which led to the back wall being smashed accidentally and the warehouse was discovered. However, I knew that the back of the base was off-limits to everyone. No one would drive the excavator there unless they were ordered to do so.

He drove the car and stared at the road ahead. He smiled and said, "I knew it after you told me."

I pursed my lips and asked, "Then why didn't you expose it at that time? Why did you wait until now?"

He looked at me and answered, "If I had exposed him at that moment, Sebastian would have come up with a bigger conspiracy and I would have to spend more time trying to outsmart him. So, I chose to follow his plan, so that at least I knew what was coming!"

Seeing that he was still looking at me while driving, I shouted, "Keep your eyes on the road. Don't look at me!"

I paused for a while and said, "So when you were in Oakland, you knew that something would happen. That's why when you found out that Sebastian was coming to Oakland, you decided to return immediately."

He nodded and said, "However, I didn't expect him to move so fast. That's why I was abducted by him."

No wonder that he didn't seem to care when he was gambling with Kaleb in the casino. It turned out that he knew his opponent was not Kaleb. Thinking about Kaleb, I couldn't help but ask, "Can you believe that Kaleb died just like that?"

The car stopped outside the villa. Since we hadn't been back for a long period of time, Hendrix had hired a cleaner. The cleaner was about to leave when we arrived.

Seeing that we were back, the cleaner looked at Hendrix and said, "Mr. Roberts, a tall and muscular man came here just now and said that he was looking for Arianna. He wanted me to give you a message, which was to be careful!"

Looking for me?

I couldn't help but ask the cleaner about the man's appearance. She described it once, but I still had no idea who the man was. So, I let her leave at that point.
