My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1307
I shook my head and said, "Mrs. Sanders, you can take the money, live well. I will be more relieved if you take it. Otherwise, I am going to worry about you when we go back. Just keep it so as to make me feel at ease. Just take it and live a good life with Mr. Sanders in the future. Don't worry, everything will get better soon."
Seeing her tears start to fall, I really didn't know what to say. I left with Hendrix after finishing my words.
In the car.
I couldn't help but sigh.
Hendrix looked at his watch and asked, "What do you want to eat?"
I almost forgot we hadn't eaten anything, from morning till now. Thinking of this, I couldn't help looking back into the dark alley.
Hendrix seemed to know what I was thinking about and spoke, "Don't worry. I've already asked someone to send food to them. Now, put everything aside and think about what you want to eat."
I thought for a moment and said, "Let's go have stew. It's already so late. It's not good to go too
far."
He smiled faintly, like he had no choice. He raised his hand to pinch my face and said, "After a busy day, do you still remember what you were supposed to do today?"
I nodded. "Let's go to the hospital some other time. No need to hurry."
He gave me a light kiss on my face and uttered with some helplessness, "All right, let's go eat!"
In the following days, he was busy almost every day. In November, Roberts Group had to prepare a quarterly operation report, and also began to prepare for the development of the following year. There were too many things that kept him occupied at work, so much so that he left home early and returned home late almost every day.
Although I was no longer working at Milton Group, the resignation formalities still had to be dealt with in accordance with the allocated process. Originally, I planned to ask Naomi for dinner, but when I finished and called her on the phone, she said that she had already left for Asherton.
Although I felt that she had something to tell me, she said nothing on the phone. The authorities also couldn't find any evidence of Charles' wrongdoing, so he was sent home.
Charles was old but he liked to stay active. He called us shortly after he was released, saying that he wanted to have dinner together.
Friday.
In the afternoon!
I promised Aaron that I would attend the Reid family dinner with him. I wanted to ask about Yana and him, but it seemed that he was not willing to mention it, so I didn't ask more.
I tidied up at home and went out after changing into warm clothes. I drove directly to the Roberts Group, intending to go the Reid family's house with Hendrix.
After I parked the car in the underground garage. I called Hendrix several times, but he didn't answer. I thought he was busy, so I stopped calling and sat in the car to look at my phone.
The phone vibrated. It was a friend request. I was stunned for a moment and looked at the request message. It was from Wendy.
For a moment, my mind was foggy. Then I remembered who Wendy was. After I approved, she sent me a message and said, "Hello Ari, I'm Wendy."
I couldn't help feeling stunned. I really didn't feel used to someone texting me so casually.
I typed a line of words, "Hello, it's a pleasure to
meet you."
She seemed to be as bad at socializing as I was. After greeting her, she said directly, "When are you coming to Asherton? I want to talk."
I hesitated for a moment, thinking that I had no time to go to Asherton right now. "I don't know yet. What's wrong? Did something happen?" No!" She replied with just that and did not respond to me anymore.
