My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1371
After a brief pause, I asked, "Well, how should I address her?"
Raising his brows, he raised his gaze at me. "Well, you should be addressing her like she's your mother-in-law... I guess 'Mom' would work!" he said, smirking. "Anyway, her name is Hermione... or Mrs. Milton."
I frowned, speechless at his remark.
Not long after that, Sebastian's mother, Hermione came knocking. Clad in an apron, she said, "Lunch's ready!"
Sebastian nodded and said smilingly, "Right, we'll be there in a bit."
As Hermione left, he narrowed his eyes seriously. "Be sure to carry yourself well," he said. "And watch your words, please."
Flaggergasted, I did not reply.
At the teahouse's dining area.
It was a private space with classic furniture. Though it was not particularly large, every corner exuded opulence.
There were a bunch of sunflowers on the dining table, probably artificial. As I took a seat, I was taken aback to find that those were real flowers. It was winter after all. Why were there sunflowers in this season?!
Hermione led me to take a seat. Smilingly, she said, "Please help yourself with these simple dishes. If Sebastian had informed me beforehand, I would have prepared more scrumptious dishes. I'll cook up a storm the next time you're here."
I smiled and shook my head. "It's alright, Mrs. Milton," I said. "These dishes are sumptuous enough."
Sebastian remained withdrawn as he ate. He responded obediently whenever Hermione spoke to him. She kept serving me food, so much so that I felt nauseous looking at the pile of dishes on my plate. I wanted to stop her, but I held back as she was merely being a gracious hostess. Besides, I was pregnant, so I reckoned there was no harm in eating a bit more.
Alas, I felt nauseous not long after I started eating. I dashed to the washroom to throw up. However, I was merely retching.
Hermione hurried over and asked worriedly, "Are you alright? Feeling unwell? Shall Sebastian take you to the hospital?"
It was the first time that I experienced nausea since getting pregnant. I gargled, shook my head, and said smilingly, "No big deal, I was just feeling nauseous. I will be alright after a while."
After all, she was a woman and understood what was going on. Her face broke into a large grin. "You' re pregnant, right?" she asked. "How far along are you? Have you been to the hospital for a check-up?"
I was taken aback by her continuous questions. "Two months," I replied smilingly. "I haven't been experiencing any noticeable physical changes. I guess I'm alright."
"That's great!" Hermione was still grinning from ear to ear. She grabbed hold of my arm and led me out of the washroom. Taking no notice of what Sebastian said, she remarked, "These dishes aren't meant for pregnant ladies. Wait a moment, let me cook another round of dishes for you."
As she was about to head to the kitchen, I grabbed hold of her arm and said, "It's okay, Mrs. Milton. I'm good. These dishes are fine with me. Please don't trouble yourself."
Her eyes were somewhat red, probably due to excitement. She grabbed hold of my arm and said, "Oh, no worries. I'm really over the moon. I just feel like cooking some dishes for you and the baby. Just wait for me."
