My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1473
She set the food down on the table with a gentle smile and then left the room.
Yana was ravenous. After she changed her clothes and ate a few mouthfuls of food, she was asked to go out to propose a toast. When Ethan came to the door to escort her, he was already a little red from the alcohol.
Hendrix, who seemed like he'd came for me, was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. When he noticed that my clothes were changed, he raised his eyebrows and asked, "Why did you change your clothes?"
"It's difficult to walk with that dress on, so I changed!" I replied. After all, it was traditional wear, and that was really cumbersome. Besides, there were so many people here that I was afraid I would trip over my dress, so I changed it.
Seeing him staring at me, I felt a little strange and asked, "Did you want me to keep the outfit on?"
He smiled but didn't say anything. Instead, Ethan, who was already a little tipsy, said, "Mr. Roberts wants you to look beautiful..."
"Well, that's enough. You haven't eaten yet, have you? Let's go out and grab a bite!" Hendrix tugged on my arm and interrupted Ethan before he could finish his sentence.
Ethan and Yana went off to toast some of the other guests. Uncle Charles and Carney had almost finished enjoying their meal. It was apparent that Uncle Charles was quite happy today, and he had already drunk a few glasses of wine.
He looked at me and asked, "Arianna, who prepared your wedding with Mr. Roberts?"
I was stunned for a moment and replied with a smile, "It was Master Roberts who prepared it. Grandpa was too old to worry too much, so we just had a simple ceremony."
Uncle Charles was slightly taken aback. He glanced at Hendrix and said, "Mr. Roberts, shouldn't you host another wedding for Arianna? If that doesn't work, you can still arrange a celebration for your wedding anniversary or something else. Girls love getting pampered like this, no matter how old they are."
Hendrix smiled. "Uncle Charles, do you have any good suggestions?"
Looking at the two of them chatting like two children, I couldn't help but laugh. "We have been married for so many years, why should we have another wedding ceremony?"
"You can't say that!" Uncle Charles exclaimed. He continued, "No matter how long you've been together, you must try to spice things up a little. A couple should care about and take good care of each other. If you don't try anything to spice things up and have a little romance, life will turn out to be really boring!"
Hendrix nodded and answered with a smile, "You're right, Uncle Charles!" He looked at me with a smile in his dark eyes and said, "Miss Reid, let's get to know each other again. I am Hendrix Roberts!" I frowned and the corner of my mouth twitched. I looked at him and asked, "What are you doing?"
"He's proposing to you. Why can't you get it?" Uncle Charles said. He was quite drunk at this point now and had started to talk boldly.
I was startled when I saw Hendrix move the chair in front of him, then kneel down with a ring in his hand.
All of this happened a little sudden. A picture of a young girl replaced Yana and Ethan's photos on the screen.
That photo looked particularly familiar. Suddenly, I realized that it was a photo of myself when I had first arrived at the University of Ucrebury. I was only eighteen that year. It was a picture of me at the library entrance of the University of Ucreburg, holding a book that I'd just borrowed.
"Some things at first sight turn out completely different," Hendrix's deep and magnetic voice rang out. "The year you were eighteen, I was twenty-three and I'd just taken over the Roberts Group. You looked so beautiful despite not wearing any makeup. I wasn't sure what it was, but you seemed so reserved and aloof. At that time, I thought, I had never come across such a cold and indifferent woman. I didn't fall in love with you immediately, but that scene was somehow entrenched into my memory. This woman in the photo that Austin had accidentally taken became my muse for many years."
