My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1485
He nodded and sighed, leaning back into the seat. He closed his eyes wearily. A relationship could really consume a person and leave him exhausted.
The car stopped in front of the pre-appointed restaurant. We got out of the car. Aaron had an air of nonchalance about him. I dug my elbow into his side and said, "No matter what is going on in your mind right now, you will need to remain dignified. You are not a child anymore. Since you have promised Uncle Charles to go through with it, you should respect yourself and the other party as well."
"Got it!" he answered. He looked at me and asked, "Then let's go together?"
I shook my head and pulled Hendrix close. I looked at Aaron and said, "Nope, I'll sit with my husband later so that you can have a good chat with the girl. If you mess this up, I'll wash my hands of you once and for all. You can do whatever you want."
He pouted, nodded and answered, "Alright!"
After entering the restaurant, Aaron asked to be seated, giving Uncle Charles' name as the reference. The restaurant was a high-end one and required reservations in advance. Seeing that Hendrix and I couldn't get in, Aaron became anxious.
He looked at the receptionist and said, "What do you mean you're not letting us in? Fine! I'll leave. I'll shut this place down by tomorrow!"
He started to drag me away. I rolled my eyes. Aaron was behaving like a child. Fortunately, Hendrix was calm and stopped him, "You go in first, Arianna and I will come in later!"
Aaron frowned and asked, "Why? You're going to leave me alone here, are you? And go off on your own?"
Hendrix frowned and said indifferently, "I'll call the owner of this restaurant and ask him to arrange a table for us. Otherwise, Arianna and I can't go in."
Aaron twitched his mouth and asked, "Do you know the owner of this restaurant?"
I could tell that Aaron was just buying time to find an excuse to escape, so I simply looked at him and said flatly, "Aaron, either you go first, and I will come in with Hendrix later, or we will leave you here alone and leave immeditaely. Your business has nothing to do with us. I'll give you three seconds for you to decide. Three, two..." "Alright, alright, I'll go in first!" he cut me off before
I could finish counting. As I watched him stomp off into the restaurant, he really looked like a petulant child. He even looked back at me as he entered the restaurant and said, "Arianna, you must come in later, or I'll be very disappointed!"
If not for the fact that we were in public, I would have given him a good scolding there and then!
I felt really embarrassed by his wishy- washy attitude. I turned around to look at Hendrix and found that he was already on a call with someone. He was asking the person on the other end, "March Deli is your restaurant, isn't it?"
The voice on the other end of the line sounded a little like Austin's. He answered, "Yeah, it was a casual investment. Do you want to go?"
Hendrix nodded and said, "Yes, I'm already at the door. Please inform the receptionist."
After that, Hendrix passed his phone to the receptionist. The receptionist was a little confused. Austin immediately began to chew him out, "What do I pay you for? Are you blind? How could you have failed to recognize Mr. Roberts?"
The receptionist was really baffled. He probably didn't know that the man on the phone was the owner of the restaurant. He said in confusion, "Sir, and you are...?"
Austin was a bit speechless. He ordered, "Pass the phone back to Mr. Roberts. And then, pack up your things and leave immediately. You're fired."
He hung up immediately after.
About three minutes later, a slightly plump man came out of the restaurant and walked towards us with a smile on his face. He said, "Mr. and Mrs. Roberts, I sincerely apologize for the mistake. It was negligence on our part. Please come in. Your table is ready. Mr. Shelley has arranged for your meal to be on the house today. You may order anything you wish."
