Estella was also in shock, but she immediately ran for the guards. I watched Vincent, who had pinned the man on the ground, and said, "Don't hurt him. It would be hard to explain to the police later." Upholding justice and hurting others were two different things. If he hurt the man, he would be charged with assault.

Vincent seemed to have heard what I said. When he beat the man, he was skillful. It looked like he didn't hit him hard and there were no serious injuries on his body, but the man on the ground groaned in pain. Later on, the security guards came with Estella and pulled them apart. Then, the police soon arrived. Because Vincent was involved in the fight, the police took him away to lodge a report.

Freya and Shirley were done with their shopping. I suggested to them, "Shall we go to the police station as well?"

Freya frowned. "What for? That woman deserves it. She's lucky that she only received a beating and nothing more. She would just be a scourge if she stayed alive anyway."

I shook my head and answered, "No, I think we should go. I'm afraid that Eunice will say something against the righteous man. He will be in trouble then. Let's go and have a look."

Shirley was puzzled. "Why would she do that? If it weren't for him helping her, she would have been beaten to death."

I shrugged. "It's hard to say. Let's go and have a look. We're almost done here anyway."

They shot each other a look and agreed that they were done with their shopping. Therefore, they nodded. "Okay, let's go!"

We went to the police station. Vincent and the man were locked up and questioned. Eunice was taken to an interrogation room. A policeman was cleaning her wounds while another interrogated her about what happened.

We sat in the hallway and waited.

Estella glanced at me as if she wanted to say something. I almost forgot about her because I was in a hurry. I smiled faintly at her. "Miss Zanes, how are you doing? It's been a while since we last met."

She returned a smile. "I'm fine. I heard that you went to Oakland some time ago. I thought you were still there. I haven't seen Mr. Roberts recently... nor you, either!"

I replied, "Well, there is a new project in Oakland.

Hendrix has to handle it there, so he is busy these days and doesn't go to the company. You seem to be in the pink recently. Are you dating Vincent?"

She quickly shook her head and denied, "No, Madam, don't get me wrong. We're just friends. We came out to buy something today. There's nothing going on between us. Don't get me wrong."

I was astonished that she was so eager to explain herself. Vincent obviously liked her, but why did she always seem ambiguous?

I grinned but didn't push further.

After a while, the people who were inside the room came out. The policeman had finished treating Eunice's wounds. With tears on her face, she grabbed the policeman and said, "My boyfriend and I were just playing around. He didn't hit me. He just pushed me. I don't know why the man suddenly came over and hit my boyfriend."

I couldn't help but raise my eyebrows at this sight. Estella was also stunned. She stared at her and exclaimed, "What are you talking about? It's clear that you were being beaten up by that man in the mall, so my friend helped you. We don't know you at all. Why would we hit your boyfriend for no reason?"

Eunice retorted shamelessly, "Who knows what are you up to? Anyway, your friend hit my boyfriend. You have to give us compensation."
