My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1613
Hendrix didn't even look up at me. Just as I lifted my fork and knife, he put his cutlery down, wiped his mouth with a napkin and uttered calmly, "I will help Irvin. The condition is that you're not allowed to meet him before giving birth."
I was flattered. I didn't expect that Hendrix would put their disagreement aside all of a sudden. "Are you serious?"
Hendrix put down the napkin and glanced at me with a serious and cold expression. "Isn't this what you wanted?"
At that moment, it seemed as if we were back to those years when we just got married. We were always trying to provoke the other, speaking to each other with sarcasm in our voices to prove that the other party was wrong.
I could understand what Hendrix was doing. If Andrea was the one who needed help at that time, I might be more scornful than him.
I put my cutlery down, controlled my expression, and responded in a solemn manner, "I want to do something for Irvin and not turn a blind eye, but it has to be within our ability. You know that Irvin saved my life. If he can't lead a good life, I'll feel indebted to him all my life. You don't want Irvin to be stuck between us forever, right?"
Every time I mentioned Irvin, Hendrix seemed to get offended easily. He stared at me coldly and sneered. "So you're saying that you and I won't be happy if Irvin doesn't live in harmony and happiness?" Feelings were complicated. It was a simple matter, but with suspicion and jealousy, everything became a mess.
He was furious, and I didn't want to quarrel with him, so I tried my best to reply politely, "No, we're married and will soon have our own children. I don't want to have regrets toward Irvin, so I want to help him. Hendrix, you know it yourself, don't you? Every time you hear his name, you'll be agitated. Isn't it because you regretted that he was with me during my most painful days instead of you? I..."
"Enough," Hendrix spoke in a rough tone. He stood up and loomed over me, "I'm clear about that, so you don't have to remind me again and again. I'll solve this problem. You don't have to worry about it anymore."
After that, Hendrix walked out without looking back.
I was stupefied. I didn't know why things turned out to be that way.
Minnie had just stepped out of the kitchen when she saw Hendrix leaving. She came over and asked with concern, "Young Master Hendrix didn't sleep all night. Is he going back to the company right away?" "Didn't he go to the company the day before?" I asked.
"Yes. Young Master Hendrix has been busy working in the study all night. He just came down for breakfast," Minnie told me.
I frowned and looked in the direction of the door, sighing heavily. We were married for so long, yet he would still mistreat himself when we had a fight. Men sometimes were really childish.
No one would believe that Hendrix was throwing a tantrum. However, he was unable to keep his senses when it came to Irvin.
After sending Minnie away, I took my phone and sent Hendrix a message. "When you reach the office, take a nap. You should rest well even if you're busy."
After thinking for a moment, I added a few more words. "Dr. Jules reminded you before." It was not like I wanted to remind him.
Looking at the two messages, I felt angry yet amused.
I was just like Hendrix. Two of us were so stubborn that we were unable to compromise in love.
