My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1617
Hendrix spent a short time with me at home. He did not know that I suffered in pain before falling asleep every night. Yet on the previous night, since I took over the Granger Group, those nightmares and negative emotions had disappeared.
However, Hendrix was unconvinced. He took out his phone and was about to call Irvin. 'TH give Irvin a call now and let him tell you that you don't have to intervene in this."
I interrupted him before he pressed the dial key. "There's no need to make a phone call. Irvin is on the plane to Mesville. He can't be reached until evening."
I looked up and met Hendrix's gaze, speaking without any hesitation, "It's no use even if you get to Irvin. It's my decision. Everyone in Granger Group knows that he trusts me. As long as I want to go back, no one will doubt that I'll secure his business in his absence. Even if it doesn't work, at least those who only care about profits won't be able to take advantage of him!"
After a whole night of work, I basically grasped the situation of the Granger Group. Although a lot of problems had happened in the past month, they were all under control. As long as the situation was handled in time, the situation could be stabilized. Financing and acquisition were not the only way out.
My tone was harsh, and it was obvious that I was sulking with Hendrix, but every word I used was sincere.
I loved Hendrix, but I couldn't accept his businessman's mindset. If it was an outsider, I would've let it slide. The reason we were able to make peace and have the chance to start over was that Irvin didn't let me die back then. I couldn't turn a blind eye to how cold-blooded Hendrix was to Irvin.
Hendrix's expression froze for a long time before he slowly put down his phone.
He stared at me for two seconds, then turned around disappointedly and left.
It wasn't until the footsteps completely disappeared that I felt discouraged. I slumped into the chair as if I had lost my strength.
A long time ago, I had expected that the day would come. Hendrix and I would eventually fall out because of Irvin. That was inevitable.
I wanted an opportunity to let Hendrix know that I loved him, but I couldn't treat it as if Irvin didn't exist. Only by making up for all the debt could I have a decent life and love. It was true for both
Hendrix and I.
Not long after Hendrix had left, I met the representative of GW Group who was responsible for acquiring Granger Group. It was a familiar person, Sean.
Sean came during dinnertime. Minnie had prepared a table full of dishes. Hendrix had no intention of coming home, so I invited Sean to stay and have dinner together.
Sean and I didn't end on a good note the last time. This time, when he saw me again, there was no estrangement at all as if nothing had happened. He was polite and gentle, and he had a smile on his face. In order to secure that acquisition, he should be complimented for his endurance of humiliation.
Foreigners liked to have a business talk during the meal. Sean brought up the issue halfway through the meal.
"I heard that you're now Granger Group's representative. I'm wondering if you have any objections toward the acquisition by GW Group?" he asked.
I was frank with Hendrix, and I saw no point in hiding anything from Sean. I put down my cutlery, wiped my mouth, then stared straight at Sean before slowly answering, "We didn't have a good time during the last two meetings. I believe that you also have a grudge against us, but I can assure you that I bear no ill will to GW Group."
My words were genuine, and my expression was sincere enough. Sean was satisfied and nodded repeatedly.
"But I still have to apologize for this time," I said. Sean's smile instantly disappeared, but he did not interrupt me. I continued, "I reject GW Group's acquisition offer by officially representing Granger Group."
