My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1628
Doing business with Tobias?
The first thing that came to my mind was him bringing women in my the office to have sex in broad daylight.
I immediately became cautious. "Is there any business to do between us?"
"Of course." Tobias pounded his chest with his fist, which was where he had just put his pen recorder. "Although I'm looking for Irvin for Hendrix, if you need to tell him something in private, I can ask my men to send the information and get back to you as soon as possible. What do you think?"
Although the person who disguised themselves as me was good, she couldn't imitate my temperament and character. Things like that was hard to fake. Irvin was smart, and he would figure out that wasn't me within a few words. According to what Tobias said, if I could talk to Irvin, things would be much easier.
But I still remembered that there was no free lunch in the world. "What about the terms? What do you want?"
I could see the gleam in his charming eyes. He said, "It's just a small favor. You're now Granger
Group's proxy CEO. You just need to nod your head."
I learned from experience. The wider the cunning grin Tobias had on his face, the more complicated his favor would be. I frowned more and doubted his words. "Are you sure?"
Tobias grinned and pulled out the chair beside me. He looked at me and spoke with a flattering attitude, "Well, if you will, it's just a teeny bit difficult. A few years ago, Granger Group wanted to take the lead in the communications industry, and had received the permission of the country to set up a communication base station. It has always been controlled by the government. I don't want to set up another one. I just hope that when the staff of the Granger Group go to service the station, they can take my technicians along to learn."
I was overwhelmed and turned to stare at him. This wasn't a small favor. It was obviously an opportunity to find a loophole in the law. Despite the fact that I hadn't passed the bar exam, even law freshmen could see what Tobias was thinking.
I was dumbstruck for a moment, and then I refused immediately. "Impossible, don't even think about it. Change your conditions."
Tobias's face fell when he heard that. He played with the glass on the table with his slender fingers, looking carefree. "There's no other way. Business is where both parties are happy. If you can't give me what want, let's stop here. Just assume that I didn't say anything."
I was exasperated.
It was obvious that he was playing hard to get, but I was worried that he'd make Irvin's information his bargaining chip later, and this made me furious.
At that moment, Hendrix came back from the balcony with his phone in hand. When he saw my angry face, his face wrinkled slightly, but quickly returned to his usual, indifferent look. He said lightly, "That's how it is in business. Only the bargain matters. You fought your way in the workplace for a long time too, you should know. There's only Tobias and I, and the both of us can't do much to change the situation. Something went wrong in the company and I have to go to the hospital. You should go to bed early, don't wait for me."
After that, Hendrix put his phone in his pocket, took his coat from the living room, and walked to the door.
When he was at the door, he stopped and glanced behind him. "Follow me if you want your money."
These words were for Tobias. He gave up and followed him out. Before leaving, he whispered to me, telling me to think about whether I wanted to accept his terms.
I rolled my eyes at him to show my determination.
