My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1632
"Sure." I nodded and tried to relax. "So you are also a doctor."
lan was a student of psychology, while Silvia was an obstetrics and gynecology doctor. They were well-matched.
Silvia pursed her lips and the corners of her mouth curled up. She changed the topic and said, "According to the results, the fetus is very healthy. As long as you're well-nourished, you just need to come in for check-ups regularly."
She deliberately avoided talking about lan. I didn't want to pester her further, so I just nodded slightly and replied, "Okay. Thank you, Dr. Lawson."
The room became quiet all of a sudden. At that moment, the cries of a baby suddenly came from the inner room.
"Sorry, he's too young to leave me, so I brought him to the hospital."
Silvia said as she got up and went to the room. When she came back, she held a baby in her arms. She teased the baby, and he stopped crying. Both mother and son were very happy.
This had to be lan's child.
"How many months old is he?" I felt moved. I got up and walked over to her. The child was not afraid of strangers, and he looked like Silvia. He was quiet after crying.
"Less than six months." Silvia's smile deepened when she mentioned the child. Her eyes were all on the baby.
Children were lovable. Looking at his chubby face, I couldn't help stretching out my hand to pinch it. Suddenly, I heard footsteps outside the door. Before I could touch the child, I turned my head. Seeing lan standing at the door, I drew back my hand subconsciously, a little embarrassed.
lan was expressionless. He stared at me for a few seconds, then went straight to Silvia, took the child from her, and finally smiled at the child.
I lowered my head and let out a breath. I was even prepared to be ignored. A few seconds later, lan spoke.
"Silvia said that it's twins?"
I thought I was hallucinating. When I looked up and caught lan's eyes, I was sure I didn't mishear him. I nodded and said, "Yes."
"That's good, then you won't have any regrets in the future." After saying that, lan turned his attention to Silvia and the child, and he stopped talking.
The three of them were happy, and I felt awkward being in the same room. Hendrix walked in. He and lan nodded at each other as a way of greeting. After that, we went through regular check-up procedures. Leaving the hospital, I remembered lan's attitude. It was as if a boulder had pressed down on my chest, and it felt stuffy.
Hendrix was observant, and he immediately sensed that something was wrong with me. He drove out of the hospital for a distance before he parked the car on the side of the road.
"What did lan tell you again?" he asked.
I shook my head. "He didn't say anything."
It was exactly because of that, that it made me feel even more uncomfortable. I, Monique, and lan grew up together, and had fought with each other. But we were frank about what we were dissatisfied with. After fighting, we could forgive each other. No one would pay attention to it. At this moment, things seemed alright on the surface. But in fact, I knew there was a strong wall, rooted between lan and I.
Hendrix lowered his head thoughtfully and uttered, "Let's find an opportunity to have a talk with lan. We could invite him to our place."
I smiled wryly and tilted my head to look at him.
"lan is also a man. Why aren't you jealous?"
"I wouldn't mind him." Hendrix turned around and started the engine. "You're not like Dr. Lawson. Ian won't be interested."
