I still remembered the day when lan got his Psychologist Qualification Certificate vividly. No one could relate such a sunny and heroic young man from that day to the disheveled man at the moment.

If I hadn't complained to Freya, the news wouldn't have happened. It's a given that lan should blame me, but he shouldn't drown himself in alcohol and harm his health.

"Don't you still want to fight against me for Anne's custody? Look at you now, what do you have to go against me?" Since there was no point discussing with each other, it was probably more effective to irritate him.

lan's bloodshot eyes suddenly looked up at me, and Emma was so scared that she took a step back. After a while, he suddenly sneered and looked away. "I should have known it. Birds of a feather flock together. You have fallen in love with such a man and have become as selfish and despicable as him. Monique risked her life for someone like you. What a fool..."

"Yes, I am a selfish person. Did it take you that long to find out?" I took a deep breath, suppressed my sadness for Monique and continued to say,

"So don't let me look down on you!"

"Arianna Reid!" lan stood up abruptly and walked up to me. His vicious gaze fell on my face. It was as if he wanted to tear me apart.

The way he looked at this moment was more horrific than when he questioned me in the Roberts Manor. Even if I tried my best to endure it, I couldn't help but gulp.

Emma trembled with fear, but she still reached out and stood in front of me. "Don't mess with us. Our bodyguards are outside!"

lan's expression softened a little, but his eyes were fixed on Emma. No one knew what he was thinking. He stood still for two seconds, then turned back to the sofa and sat down. "Get out of here. I don't want to see you two."

I felt helpless, but he refused to communicate. Hence, we could only leave for the time being.

I decided to find another way to regain lan's confidence after getting back.

Emma helped me out of the clinic and prepared to go home right after.

Aaron didn't allow me to go out for too long, hence I took advantage of the time to look for lan after sending Anne. Emma was also taking the risk of being blamed by Aaron, so I didn't want to get her into trouble.

Just as I reached the door, I heard an unfriendly tone. "Arianna Reid, I told you that I would be able to find you."

I looked to where the voice resonated from and there stood Matt, followed by about eight bodyguards. They had suppressed Aaron's men.

Since he and I had met only once, there was no conflict between us. Hence, I maintained my composure and asked, "Mr. Forbes, do you want something from me?"

Before he could speak, a familiar figure suddenly walked out from behind the bodyguards. Those eyes, which seemed to be soaked in purgatory, belonged to none other than Sebastian.

"Long time no see." A faint smile appeared on Sebastian's face, which brought the gloom from the deepest of his bones.

My breath hitched as I clenched my fists. Fear spread out all over my body.

Didn't Sebastian flee abroad? Why was he here? Why was he with Matt?

"You should come with us."

As soon as Matt finished speaking, the bodyguards behind him charged up to us. One of them walked straight to Emma, rudely snatched the bag from her hand, took out the phone from the bag and threatened us with it. He showed us the interface of the phone call with Aaron, then threw the phone to the ground. The phone broke into several parts.

"Let's go!" Then, they picked us up as if they were butchers carrying meat and walked to a black van.
