We couldn't go in the ICU at any time, so we could only stand far away from the window.

lan lay on the bed, his body wrapped in bandages. Only the constant sound from his breathing machine could prove that he was still alive.

He could still cheerily scold me the day before, but that day, he couldn't even open his eyes to see the world. My nose felt drippy and my eyes were wet. I covered my mouth and nose, afraid to cry, for fear of disturbing lan.

Hendrix put his hand on my shoulder and patted me gently to comfort me. "I have arranged for people to fix lan's clinic, and to appease his current patients. When he wakes up, everything will go back to normal. He can start anew. This was an accident. No one wanted this to happen. You were depressed before, and now you are pregnant. You can't be too sad, and it's easy to lose control of your emotions. How will you take care of the children then?"

After hearing what he said, I had to calm down and tried my best to control my sadness.

However, I still had to deal with the current situation. I looked at lan in the ICU while

whispering to Hendrix, "Are you going to the dinner tonight?"

"Yes." Hendrix answered very simply, and his grip on my shoulder tightened. "One last time, you can play your role as Mrs. Roberts."

If I wanted to make the notice and the divorce agreement more persuasive, I really needed to play the leading role. I didn't say anything, so I agreed.

After being pregnant, my legs were severely swollen. After an hour outside the intensive care unit, Hendrix called Estella over and told her to report to him if things changed, and then took me away. When we got out of the elevator, we met Silvia and her child. She glanced sideways at us and got into the elevator without looking back.

Waiting was the most torturous thing. I had been on my phone all day, hoping to get news of lan's condition. However, Estella only sent one sentence. "The doctor's inspection reports that Mr. Ian's condition needs to be observed again."

I was worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up even when I was about to head out for the banquet. I was absent-minded even when Hendrix helped me out the door. That was why I was stunned when I saw Aaron.

I asked, "Why are you here?" Aaron was dressed formally. It seemed that he was going with us.

"Why can't I?" Aaron naughtily shook his shoulders, full of spirit. "Anyway, I am the only person who has embarrassed the Forbes family so much in the past ten years. Besides, I represent Uncle Charles and the Reid family today. There is nothing strange about me coming."

"Let's go. Get in the car." As he spoke, he stepped forward and took me from Hendrix's hands. He helped me get into the Reid family's car. Hendrix followed closely behind and got into the Roberts family car at the back.

The cars soon set off.

I looked at the car behind us in the rear view mirror and tilted my head to ask Aaron, "What on earth are you two planning?"

I was there when Valerie and Pedro came to visit the day before, but I didn't hear that Eddison had invited the Reid family. What's more, Aaron's expose on Matt that morning had caused a great commotion, and the Forbes family had already long treated him as a thorn in their side. If he attended this event, they would definitely be furious!

Aaron looked at me with an exaggerated smile on his face. "What could happen? I wanted to meet the Forbes family, so Hendrix let me. It was that simple."
