My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1686
The offer letter was only valid for a month, and it would take another two months for the babies to be born. After that, there was the post-pregnancy recovery period. I couldn't make it, so I dismissed the offer. About three weeks had passed after that. I almost forgot about the letter, but then I received a phone call, claiming to be from Dawnie Law Firm's secretary.
"Miss Reid, I'm calling to confirm with you. Have you received our law firm's internship offer?" The woman's voice was polite and not sharp.
"Yes, I did." I nodded and took a sip of warm milk.
The secretary asked, "So have you found another choice, or are you unkeen to work with Dawnie Firm?"
I answered, "Neither of them. It's my personal reason. I'm pregnant and my delivery is soon, so I can't go there for my internship now. Thank you for your kindness."
I had investigated Dawnie Firm in private. It was not an exaggeration to say they were the top law firm in the city. It was a paradise that every person who passed the bar would love to work in. An internship experience at Dawnie Firm would look really good on a resume.
Although it was a bit of a pity, it didn't matter. Nothing was more important than the children being born safely.
The secretary suggested, "Oh, we have considered this. Since you are a very promising candidate who passed the bar exam in one try, the firm doesn't want to miss out on recruiting you. We can arrange an online interview for you. What do you think?"
Hmm? If that was the case, it would be difficult to not be tempted.
However, how could the dignified Dawnie Firm be so accommodating for new hires?
Although I had doubts, I thought there was no danger and agreed.
My appointment with the secretary was at nine o'clock the next morning. Although there was not much hope, I got up early because of the baby in my belly. I was waiting in front of the computer for half an hour in advance.
The secretary who contacted me before sent a video call invitation on time. Before answering, I was nervous to tidy up my appearance. But when I saw the face of the interviewer, I was stunned.
Zoel Parker?
I thought I would never see him again, and I didn't even keep his business card. How could it be such a coincidence that I would see him again here?
Before I could react, Zoel had already changed the topic. "Let's start."
I only calmed down after hearing his impartial tone and officially entered the interview process.
Although I had no interview experience, two years of practice made me answer fluently. Zoel did not seem to want to put me on the spot either. He ended the interview in half an hour. "The interview is officially over. Miss Reid, I wonder when you can start working at the firm?"
I was a little flattered. "So you're taking me in?"
Zoel sat on a leather chair, spreading out his hands in a generous manner. "Your abilities fulfills the requirements of the firm. It's perfectly reasonable to hire you. Is there any problem?"
"No, no." I was a little excited to be suddenly valued so highly, but I still maintained my senses and explained my situation with some embarrassment. "Did the secretary, Miss Sally, tell you that I'm going to give birth soon? It will take about three months for me to be able to work."
Zoel was stunned and frowned. He seemed to be in a bit of a dilemma.
I had been mentally prepared. I pursed my lips and said that I could accept it. "It's okay, I totally understand. After all, three months is really too long..."
"
"Sure." Zoel suddenly made his final decision and discussed it wisely. "As you are taking maternity leave in advance, after joining us, you will not be able to take maternity leave within the next five years. Can you accept that?"
