My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1714
Instead of answering me, Irvin changed the subject. "Have you made up your mind? All the children in this room were born on the same day as your son. So you can take whichever one you want." "What do you mean?" He seemed to be talking about something else entirely.
"You just want a child. These babies are too young to remember any of this, so why are you so reluctant to pick one? Are you worried that you'll mistreat them because they're not your child?" Irvin asked. I understood now. Irvin wanted me to find a replacement for the child that I'd had with Hendrix.
Irvin was unaware of Hendrix's private visit last night. Logically speaking, he should not have been bothered trying to get on my good side. But, most importantly, this idea was rather comical.
Shaking my head, I looked at Irvin mockingly and said with a sneer, "You still think everything in life can be easily replaced."
Although the bond between a mother and her child was invisible and intangible, it was because of this that it couldn't be destroyed. Irvin could never understand this principle.
"I'm very curious. What can you get out of doing this?"
He had tried everything to trick me into coming here, but now he wanted to let me go with someone else's child. What was he trying to do?
Although Irvin was stubborn, he was not stupid. He must have had his own purpose.
Irvin narrowed his eyes and pondered for a while before saying, "What's so great about Hendrix? He can't protect you or your child. Arianna, I am the only one who puts you first. As long as you agree, we can escape with a child of our own, to somewhere far away from here. I promise you that I will do everything to protect you and our child."
"Promise?"
At this moment, Irvin's promise did not seem convincing at all.
But one thing was beneficial to me. Although Irvin was obsessed with me, he did not intend to hurt me. It seemed that he was not the mastermind behind all of this.
"Are Shirley and Dannie with them?" I asked.
This was probably why Irvin was being used by them.
When I mentioned this, Irvin's expression suddenly became menacing. He looked at me with anger and said, "I'm asking you now. If your son is never to be found again, and now there is an opportunity for you to leave with me and a child of our own. Do you want to leave or not?"
The feeling of danger hit me. I was flustered by his gaze and swallowed my saliva unconsciously.
But I knew that I couldn't let my child, that I'd had with Hendrix, suffer alone.
I opened my mouth and clenched my fist. When I calmed down and was about to respond, a figure suddenly darted in from outside the door. In the blink of an eye, that person had caught Irvin and placed a cold knife against his neck.
After controlling Irvin, the figure slowly revealed herself. It was Rachel.
Weren't they in cahoots? Why were they killing each other?
Before I could react, a sullen voice came from outside the door.
"Tut, tut, tut. I warned you not to be clever."
As soon as he finished speaking, Sebastian's figure emerged, his shadow stretched long like a ghost, and he stood beside Rachel.
He looked at me, his thin lips opening and closing. There was a smile in his eyes, as if he was an evil spirit that had crawled out of hell. He looked sinister and terrifying. "Arianna, I told you, we'd meet again very soon. Did I keep my word?"
I took a deep breath and gritted my teeth. I was speechless.
Although I had guessed that this might've had something to do with Sebastian, I was still shocked when I saw him.
