My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1731
"Thank you." Raiya was leaning on the head of the bed and was still a little weak. The maid next to her was probably a servant of the Clark family, and had been taking good care of her. "Is Sawyer still so busy?" I couldn't help asking.
Raiya's head was lowered as she pursed his lips, indicating that she agreed.
However, the servant who had been listening quietly couldn't bear it, and felt indignant. "No matter how busy you are, you have to show up for the birth of your child..."
"Loraine..." Raiya opened her mouth and stopped her from continuing.
Loraine continued, "It's true. He didn't show up after he saw the child. He didn't even arrange the servants for your post-delivery recovery. He has treated you like this, why do you still cover for him? You are a grown-up, I can't let them bully you like this!"
If she were to continue, it seemed that I would be scolded as well.
Sawyer had always been very thoughtful. I didn't expect that he would be so negligent. It was really too much.
"Raiya, is that true? Sawyer treated you and your son like this is just for work?" I had a good impression of Raiya, and I just wanted to say something good for her, but I was also on the premise of understanding the situation.
"No." She smiled weakly and explained, "Loraine misunderstood. I was taken care of by her since I was a child. Other people are not used to it, so I asked for someone from home. It has nothing to do with Sawyer."
"Miss Raiya..." Loraine wanted to speak but stopped. She shut up after being glared at by her.
Raiya chuckled and changed the subject. "Arianna, let's not talk about me anymore. I heard that you have twins. I envy you..."
Anyone with a discerning eye could see that there was something fishy about it, but since Raiya was unwilling to say more, it was not right for me to intervene. So I simply let her change the topic.
After coming out of the ward and waiting for the elevator, Emma sighed with emotion. "Alas!"
"Why are you sighing?" I laughed.
"Can't I? I just feel that it's hard to be a woman." Emma seemed to have felt something.
"Why are you saying that, Mrs. Reid?" I teased her as I walked into the elevator.
Emma's relationship with Aaron was still lukewarm. Every time I mentioned her identity as Mrs. Reid, she would lose her spirit.
Sure enough, she was just as calm as she used to be, but now she became serious and said, "Oh my God, Arianna... Can you stop?"
I smiled and pressed the button of the elevator. "I didn't expect you to be so funny about it."
"Well, I didn't think it was. I won't come out with you anymore in the future." Emma had the urge to give up.
"All right, let's stop joking. Tell me, why did you say that?" I adjusted my expression and said seriously.
"Isn't that so? Obviously, Raiya has been left behind by Sawyer, but she still has to cover for him. Women, women, they live for men. It's so tiring," Emma said with sympathy.
I didn't agree with her words. "This matter can't be looked at like this. Maybe Sawyer really can't get away? Moreover, even if Raiya was making up excuses for him, it is because she loves him. No matter whether men or women, only the people who are trapped in love are the most tired."
Hearing this, Emma naturally felt the same. She lowered her head and fell into her thoughts. The elevator opened, and she did not respond.
"What are you doing, Emma? We're here." As soon as I reminded her, she came to herself and trotted out of the elevator.
"Phew, so dangerous. I was almost caught by the door." Emma patted her chest to calm herself down and added, "I haven't been shopping for a long time. It's rare for me to come out. Why don't we go to the mall?"
Thinking about how Anne had asked me to buy her new stationery, I agreed.
