My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1734
"This time as I was investigated, I have a lot of feelings, and benefited a lot!" Charles was used to being a leader. He spoke in his official tone with a magnificent manner. "The most important thing is even if you try your best to stay out of things, people aren't going to let go of you. I have been doing my utmost to be upright, but this time I was framed, and almost hurt my grandson. I'm really ashamed to be a father and a senior member of the Reid family."
He looked at me with shame and apology. After a pause, he again raised his spirits and said in a loud voice, "I, Charles Reid, declare that from today onward, I will never let anyone hurt my family again. I must get rid of Eddison Gavlin and his men, scum who interferes with the law to hurt others, as soon as possible!"
On the first day of my internship, Aaron insisted on sending me.
When the car stopped at the side of the road, I unbuckled my seat belt and was about to get off. Aaron almost scared me. "Don't move!"
He got out of the car and went around to my side.
He opened the door for me, bowed slightly like a gentleman and stretched out a hand to let me borrow his strength. He said with a slick tongue, "Miss Reid, we've arrived. Please exit the car."
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. I put my hand on his and said, "Don't make fun of me here.
I am just an intern, far from being a lawyer."
As everyone knew, this was only a stepping stone to being a proper lawyer. In order to really get a practitioner's certificate, one had to go through a year's internship, and in that year, complete at least ten cases independently. Only then could I receive the certificate and go independent.
"It'll happen sooner or later, I'll let you have a good time first." Aaron wore a big smile and didn't look serious.
"If you're that free, you should get along with Emma more often. You obviously like her, yet you're still putting her off," I said, hating him for not being able to live up to expectations.
Aaron raised his eyebrows and blinked at me, but did not answer.
I sighed and was about to say, "You..."
He suddenly yelled, "Hey! You're going to be late. Hurry up!"
Without giving me a chance to finish my sentence, Aaron pushed me into the revolving door and watched me being forced into the lobby. He stood there and waved his hand with a devious smile. I didn't know whether he would take my advice to heart.
After the self-introduction, the receptionist took me directly to Zoel's office. "Mr. Parker is in a meeting. Please wait for a moment, Miss Reid."
I smiled and agreed. After the lady at the front desk left, I was bored and looked around the office.
It was said that Dawnie Firm was the best law office in Jarold City, but the size of Zoel's office was only about ten square meters. There were two desks inside. Although the decor was good, it was still a little different from what I imagined.
About fifteen minutes later, the door finally opened from the outside. Zoel walked in with a slightly older man.
"Nice to meet you." I greeted them with a smile, showing my respects.
"Sir, this is Arianna Reid, whom I often mentioned to you. She passed the bar exam with me. Arianna, this is Mr. Bruce Skinner, a famous real estate attorney in the industry." Zoel introduced us to each other calmly.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Skinner," I greeted.
"Nice to meet you," Bruce said with a slight nod.
Then, he went on and said, "Zoel gave you many high praises. Work hard, and don't let him down."
I smiled in return, still quite awkward with the small talk. I didn't know what to reply to continue with the conversation.
Bruce knew what to do. He took the initiative to give us some space. "Since that's the case, I won't disturb you anymore. Zoel, take her around so she can get familiar with the firm. From now on, both of you will work under me."
Zoel replied, "Okay. Thank you, Sir."
