I stared at Estella and sighed deeply while acting very guilty.

After some workplace experience, everyone knew what something like this really meant. Generally speaking, when a superior showed an expression like this, it meant that their subordinate was in deep trouble. However, they could not fight it. Evan looked at Estella and then at me before saying in a stern voice, "Miss Zanes, you may go to the Finance Department to settle your three months' salary in advance. You don't have to come back tomorrow."

Those few words from him were loud and powerful, and even I was shocked by Evan's decisiveness. Hendrix had hired Estella, but Evan just fired her so easily!

"Evan?" Estella said in disbelief and forced a smile on her face. "Don't make fun of me like that. I'm Mr. Roberts' secretary. If you want to fire me, Mr. Roberts will have to approve first."

Evan threw her a cold look and said, "You do know that you are just a small, measly secretary? I'm responsible for all of Mr. Roberts' matters in the company. Naturally, I have the right to decide whether you leave or stay. You couldn't even fulfill a small request for a board member, and even tried to get the president to cover for you. I have done my part in compensating you with three months' salary according to our employee contract. Why are you still making a scene? You're not satisfied?"

"I..." Estella bit her lip as her face contorted in pain, but she couldn't say a word to refute him.

I, the chief culprit, looked at her indifferently and enjoyed the fruits of my victory. Estella thought of herself too highly. She was not even as talented and beautiful as Rowane. It was stupid for her assume she could ever have a chance with Hendrix, just because she was working closely with him as a secretary.

This day, I wanted to let the whole Roberts Group witness it clearly. Estella Zanes was just a warning. The person next to Hendrix could only be me. If anyone wanted to replace me, they'd have to be ready to fight against the company's directors, the Moore family, and the Reid family behind me!

"Why the noise? What's the commotion?"

A familiar male voice came from a distance. When we turned around, we saw Hendrix coming out of the office. With a cold face, Hendrix walked past the onlookers and went straight to us.

"Mr. Roberts, Miss Reid was asking Miss Zanes for a small favor. However, Miss Zanes came up with many excuses to refuse it. I am currently asking her to go to the HR department to complete the resignation," Evan explained respectfully.

Hearing that, Hendrix's black eyes fell on Estella, whose eyes were red. Estella immediately looked at Hendrix with tears as if she saw her savior. She frowned slightly, which made her appear rather pitiful. As their eyes met, the whole space seemed to be still. I couldn't help looking back and forth between them, and frowned subconsciously.

Although Hendrix's gaze only stayed for less than three seconds, it seemed to be as long as a century in my eyes.

Why? Had Hendrix's heart really softened because of those lunchboxes she packed for him?

"Was what Evan said true?" Hendrix spoke with a

neutral attitude.

Estella was a smart girl. She could tell from the scene that Freya and I were not friendly guests. She lowered her head and nodded, agreeing, but she looked more like a false victim who was forced into submission.

It was really annoying.

"Mr. Roberts, you don't have to feel troubled. I know that Miss Zanes has always done you favors, so there's no need to make such a big deal out of it." I walked forward and interrupted him while staring at Estella pointedly. "I heard that Miss Zanes is quite good at managing people's meals and personal matters. You know, small things that warm people's hearts. I say we make the most of her talents, shall we? You can transfer her to the Administration Department and let her be Deputy Director there."
