"I remember that I made it very clear the other day, Mr. Parker. I don't wish to see anyone from Dawnie Firm again. What do you plan to do by blocking my way?"

I was the one who casually filled in the address of the Reid Manor. Regular citizens would have retreated once they heard of the name of our institutional unit. If Zoel did not have any power backing him up, he would not have been able to approach us this easily.

Zoel looked at me with a conflicted expression on his face. Then, with a heavy Koland accent, he replied in English, "I'm hereto apologize."

"Huh?" I vocalized as I frowned, not understanding what he meant.

He explained, "I've learned that I would have to show my atonement when I make a mistake. I've thought about what happened the other time, and I realized that I shouldn't have been so stubborn. I hope you can forgive me for causing problems in your family," Zoel lamented. He whipped out two concert tickets from the inner pocket of his suit and handed them over. "My colleague mentioned that this idol group from our country is the favorite among girls in Zuckerburg. I asked someone from Koland to buy these backstage tickets, and I'm giving it to you as an apology."

Somehow, I felt strange when I heard him speak English in such an earnest manner, but I couldn't put my finger on what exactly was wrong.

He lowered his head and glanced at the ticket in his hand. It seemed that it was indeed really rare, but unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of those popular celebrities.

As soon as I reached out my hand to reject them, a huge palm suddenly appeared and snatched the tickets from his hand.

When I whipped my head around, I saw Hendrix standing on my left, clearly irked as he stared at Zoel with narrowed eyes.

"I remember that you were the one who accompanied Miss Reid during the exam previously. Hello," greeted Zoel, extending his hand in a friendly manner, as if he could not read the atmosphere.

All of a sudden, Hendrix started speaking in the Koland language, "No. Since you can't understand English, I'll speak in your language." He continued, "Not only do we appeal for forgiveness for our wrongdoings, but we do not swipe from others. Arianna is mine. Even if we are divorced, she is still the mother of my child. No matter what your intention is, you have to be careful of your actions from now on. Do you understand me?"

I widened my eyes in surprise. It was as if I learned something new about him this day. Since when did he pick up the language?

However, Zoel completely understood Hendrix's hostility this time. His hand was left hanging in the air for half a minute, and he silently withdrew it. He spoke again, flustered, "Sorry, I apologize for the misunderstanding. I just admire Arianna as an amazing lawyer. Dawnie Firm is the product of my father's hard work, and I'm eager to recruit talents. I was hoping that Arianna would be willing to join me in Dawnie Firm's journey toward success."

This reason didn't sound very convincing.

According to Zoel's standard of verbal English, it showed that he had a deep understanding of our culture. Now, however, he didn't seem to grasp the hints in Hendrix's words, and he claimed that showing occasional goodwill to me was not something to be concerned about, which really wasn't very convincing.

As for Hendrix, his revulsion was particularly obvious.

He raised the concert ticket in his hand, tore it from the middle, and threw it to the ground in front of Zoel. Then he whipped out his checkbook, signed it off, tore it, and stuffed it into Zoel's pocket as he walked toward him.

"You can leave now," he demanded.

Zoel turned to look at me, his brows furrowed with unwillingness, but he knew that he did not have any other choice. In the end, he could only accept it and leave.

As soon as he got into the car, Hendrix marched into the house.

He had long legs, and it seemed that he was intentionally leaving me behind by deliberately quickening his pace. In the blink of an eye, the distance between us was vast. I yelped and cried, "Hendrix! Wait for me!"
