My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1758
I had to solve ten cases by myself before I could be awarded the lawyer certificate. It seemed that Aaron explained my situation to Fabian.
I replied, "Thank you, Mr. Levin. I'll get these finished as soon as possible. I won't let you down."
Businesses in the law industry were well-established. The new and upcoming ones had chances close to zero in terms of attracting customers. Even at Dawnie Firm, Bruce only allowed Zoel and I to accompany him to court. This time, Fabian directly handed over the cases to me instead, so naturally, I was appreciative.
"Don't worry, take your time. Newcomers always require some time to get used to it. On the other hand, I have other issues to talk to you about," Fabian continued. He was extremely talkative, with a gentle expression. It felt like he got along well with most people.
Aaron was right. Dealing with pleasant people would improve your frame of mind.
"Go ahead," I replied with a smile.
"Mr. Reid ordered me to follow you, and he has entrusted things to me. So, I won't hesitate to say what I think," said Fabian as he crossed his fingers in front of him with a stern look. "Although the firm has just started operating today, it is spending money every minute. I was wondering if Miss Reid would be willing to cooperate with the Moore family or Roberts Group soon, to avoid unnecessary complications in the legal aspects of things."
I had just given Estella a hard time not long ago, so it would be a little pretentious to visit Roberts Group again in such a short time. It seemed that Fabian meant to get me to look for Valerie and Pedro.
It was not that hard to handle this matter. I could rope the Clark family in too, and divide the legal business in Jarold City with Dawnie Firm. However, Fabian's straightforwardness was concerning, and it inevitably made me nervous.
Endless blood and tears had taught me a profound lesson. We could never really understand someone inside out, and the test of time was nothing to betrayal. After all, compared to the eternity of time, nothing lasts forever.
"I see. I'll get these issues into progress. Let's first work on stabilizing the company within these few days," I commented. "Well then, I won't disturb you any further, Miss Reid. I'll leave first. Don't hesitate to contact me at anytime," noted Fabian. After saying that, he got up and left.
I did like Fabian, though. He was quick and direct at work, matching well to my liking. Aaron knew me well.
Frey a beckoned me for a session of afternoon tea just as I was heading to a nearby firm to negotiate a case, so I agreed.
The person who picked me up might have informed Fabian in advance, as the whole process went smoothly and the entire discussion ended within half an hour.
When I arrived at the coffee shop, Frey a was still on her way. I chose a window seat, ordered a glass of warm milk, and sat down to wait for her.
Soon after, the waiter served my drink and I held the cup, taking a sip. Looking out of the window, I spotted Freya, donning fashionable clothes, walking towards the cafe with her sunglasses on.
However, as she was halfway approaching the cafe, a figure suddenly blocked her way. The person was tall and strong, almost covering Freya's entire body out of my sight. He didn't seem to be someone who could be easily held off.
After a while, the man muttered a few words and forced Freya to remove her sunglasses as she stumbled backward. I soon realized that something was wrong, so I paid the bill and ran out immediately. "Freya!1 I cried out at the door, in an attempt to scare the man away, while I continued dashing over.
Upon hearing my voice, the both of them turned to look at me simultaneously. Fortunately, we were not that far away from each other. I managed to reach her in just a few seconds.
"Who are you? What are you trying to do, assaulting someone openly in broad daylight?" I threatened as I gritted my teeth and calmly raised the phone in my hand. "I've already called the police. If you don't want to go to jail, I advise you to leave right now."
