While waiting for Aaron and the Moore family members, I began to carefully rethink what had just happened.

Once bitten, twice shy. The previous incidents happened only because I did not have a headstart. However, this time, I would never allow the assailant to escape any further.

Freya was a thoughtful and well-mannered person. Although she was a little bossy and threw occasional tantrums, no one would mess with her with the Moore family supporting her. As for anyone who would want to ruin her face or her life, that was even rarer.

"Arianna!"

Just as I was guessing who the culprit was, Aaron rushed to the operating room and observed me from head to toe to make sure that I was not hurt. Only then did he let out a sigh of relief.

Valerie and Pedro also arrived soon after. After explaining the entire situation to them, Pedro gave out orders to the bodyguards of the Moore family to search and detain the suspect.

Four hours later, Freya was transferred to a general ward.

Freya was awake, but because of the wound on her back, she could only rely on physical strength and turned her body to her side on the hospital bed.

"Why are you guys here?" Freya asked. She and Pedro never had a close relationship. She did not want to let them see her at her lowest.

"We're still family, so why are you putting up a tough act?" Pedro protested, his face heavy as he had to act as a proper older brother and carry himself with authority, like his father. Perhaps his heart softened when he noticed his sister's pale face. He sighed and added, "You and I, we hated having to follow family arrangements and marrying someone we don't even know. We have freedom deep in our bones, Freya. We should respect and help each other out whenever we need to. Do you really intend to never acknowledge me as your brother?"

This dignified man had only ever given in to Valerie. He showed his utmost sincerity by talking humbly and earnestly to Freya like this.

Although Freya was stubborn, she was not an ungrateful person. Even though she did not respond to him, the expression on her face became much more relaxed and she no longer kept him at arm's length. Suddenly, she changed the subject, asking, "Did you catch the man who threw the sulfuric acid on me?"

For a tough woman like Freya, she could start making plans to catch the culprit as soon as the anesthetics wore off. I bet she could even leave the bed right after delivering a baby.

She was such an intelligent person, being able to think over things rationally. She probably had already guessed who the culprit was before the surgery even finished.

"You don't have to worry about it. I'll make whoever was behind this pay, including that man," Pedro growled angrily.

"No, don't," Freya rejected as she frowned with a hesitant look on her face. "This is my own business, I'll handle it myself."

"You want to take care of it yourself?" Pedro snapped skeptically. "If you could do that, why are you still lying here in the hospital? You're too softhearted, so don't interfere with my plan this time." Freya opened her mouth, wanting to retort, but her sudden action tore her wound open and she clenched her teeth in pain.

"Freya knows what to do. Let's listen to her. First, we'll keep an eye out for the felon. Then, well get Freya to recuperate for two days before we deal with the matter at hand," I interrupted.

We were both women, so I could understand her persistence. She was a free spirit, yet she was unable to escape the clutches of love and feelings.

Freya's complexion was extremely weak, but she continued to struggle, pressing on with her argument.

Pedro looked at me and back at her. Finally, he gave up. "Let's do that for now. Take care of your injuries. No matter how much you wish to punish those behind this, the Moore family will always back you up. Don't worry," assured Pedro.

"Thank you," Frey a replied while breaking out in cold sweat.

Three days later, Freya forced herself out of the hospital, fearing that the Moore family would exaggerate their revenge.
