I did not bother to continue this illogical argument.

"Take them out," I commanded the bodyguards. "Don't let them in unless given the order."

Once I said that, they took action and dragged the pair out.

As soon as all of them left, the living room stayed completely silent.

Freya immediately lost her tough front. She held onto the sofa to support her upper body with cold sweat dripping down her forehead. She panted heavily, and I could not bear to look at her suffering this way. All I could do was to take good care of her, and I did not dare to say anything else.

Those who had pride embedded deep within their bones would refuse to give up their dignity for their whole lifetime.

After leaving the residence of the Moore family, I was in a terrible mood, so I hid in my room to accompany my children right after returning home.

I naturally dialed Hendrix on the phone after sitting around for a while.

He picked up the phone quickly, but his voice was faint, saying, "Hello."

"When will you come over?" I asked, fatigued as I rocked the crib.

"Come over where?" Hendrix returned with another question. He was a man of few words.

"The Reid Manor, of course," I replied, deliberately raising my volume as an attempt to remind him. "Didn't you mention before that you craved my home-cooked dishes? I just made them today. Are you sure you don't want to come over?"

A moment of silence lingered on the other end of the line before Hendrix's voice could be heard again. "Arianna, are you trying to flatter me?" he asked.

Sometimes, it was not a good thing for men to be so bright.

I bit my lip and did not answer directly. "Dad and Aaron are both back. We'll start the meal if you're not coming."

Hendrix laughed, clearly in a bliss, and he finally gave his reply. "It's too late for today. I have another appointment that I can't decline. You guys can go ahead. You can make your meals only for me the next time."

"You wish! There won't be a next time!" I huffed.

As I hung up the phone, I actually felt relieved.

Sure enough, for certain people, they did not need to do anything to comfort one's heart. Just their existence was enough.

Freya was a resolute person and she said that she would get to the bottom of this incident, having no intentions of letting Stephanie off the hook. I did not have any experience in the courtroom as a lawyer, so I got Fabian to look for several similar examples of cases to mine, and I would personally attend the scene to learn.

I had been observing in court all day, and the sky was already dark when I left.

Sitting in the car, I whipped out my phone and was about to reply to Aaron's message when a notification suddenly popped up on the screen.

It was a topic on Twitter.

I was bored the whole day, so I clicked on it, probably because I needed some gossip to help me relax.

Once the website loaded, a picture of Hendrix appeared, looking like he was in high spirits.

It came together with the caption, "Possible Romance between the Presidents of X- Forbes Group and Roberts Group."

As I read this, I raised my eyebrows involuntarily.

Hendrix had talked about the Forbes family in the past. The president of X-Forbes Group was Matt's sister, Serene Forbes.

It turned out that he had rejected my offer the previous night because he was busy attending a reception party with Serene. It seemed that the reporters were talented at shooting photos. The picture was caught from a tricky angle, making the pair appear affectionate and deeply in love. They really looked like a match made in heaven.

However, if you examined closely, you would notice that there was no physical contact between the two. Even if it was a whispering pose, which was the most easily misunderstood, Hendrix and Serene were still separated by a distance. The space between them was enough to stand another person.

This groundless allegation would only annoy me. It so happened that Aaron had called, so I pushed this matter to the back of my mind.
