Hendrix did not speak, but lowered his eyes as he took off his coat, walked towards Serene, and draped it over her.

"Today is the big day of the Forbes Group. Don't let the media capture things that they shouldn't. Go and get changed first."

After he said that, he glanced at me with an obscure look. Then, he turned and passed through the crowd, taking the lead in leaving this unsafe place. Serene eyed sideways at the coat on her shoulders. She seemed to be caught up in her thoughts for a moment, and she walked to the nearest side door.

Since the two main characters had left, there was nothing left to entertain the guests, so they dispersed.

I looked around and tidied up my appearance. I cast a furtive look at Eddison and his group of friends who were already far from me. Only then was I able to finally heave a sigh of relief.

I finally got over one obstacle. I hoped that Hendrix's plan would go smoother after this day's incident.

However, we could not stay in the banquet any longer. After all, it was all just a show. If we put on an act for too long, we would be exposed.

After thinking about it for a moment, I said to Emma and Fabian, "Let's go."

"I don't know where Aaron has gone. I'll find him."

Without giving me a chance to speak, Emma disappeared into the crowd while dragging along the train of her dress. I had no choice but to follow her.

There were many guests in the hall, but it was clear that Aaron was not among them. Emma then led me to the back garden.

As we approached the corridor and turned the corner, we noticed the familiar figure of Aaron in the bright room across. He was standing by the bed with his hands stuffed into his pockets and a stern expression painted over his face. It looked as if he was discussing something important.

"Aaron..."

Emma was about to call for him, but I quickly reached out and stopped her before signaling that she should not act rashly.

Sure enough, Hendrix emerged next to Aaron a second later. From a distance, the atmosphere between the two did not seem to be peaceful. They were both reserved and treated each other with some hostility, which made them appear

distant.

From the looks of it, there must be another person in the room, so it would be troublesome if we were to enter.

Just as I was observing the scene, Fabian popped out of nowhere. He walked toward us, hushed with his hands to his lips, and pulled us to hide ourselves in the corner.

As soon as we did so, Elijah emerged out of the banquet hall with Eddison and their fellow mates. They sauntered along the corridor toward Aaron's room. There were seven or eight of them, so I was not able to recognize them all. But from their looks and temperament, I could tell that they were by no means mediocre. They were either wealthy or noble in status.

Not long after they went in, the sound of something crashing could be heard from the room. Then, the door of the room was kicked open with Aaron rushing out, leaving through the back door of the garden. As we waited for a few moments, a scream came from the room. Soon after, two bodyguards carried an unconscious man out and disappeared deep into the garden.

The room burst into harmonious laughter not long after. Two silhouettes would pass by the window from time to time, the same men with Eddison holding wine glasses and laughing together, as if nothing had just happened.

When we got home, Aaron was just leaving Charles' study when he bumped into us.

When Emma saw him, she snorted in anger, turned around, rushed into the bedroom, and slammed the door.

"Looks like you'll have to sleep in the guest room tonight," I teased.

"It doesn't matter. Nothing would happen even if we sleep next to each other anyway," Aaron said calmly as he shrugged his shoulders.
