My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1802
Aaron really saw Anne as his own daughter.
Shaking my head helplessly, I stepped forward and patted him on the shoulder, "When you can be as concerned about Carney, we'll talk about it then!"
With that, I went upstairs without waiting for his response.
When it was nearly eight o'clock, I received a call from Freya, who was about to head overseas for treatment. After chatting for a while, she hung up and boarded her plane. She was such a carefree person. She hoped that she could come back with some good news.
The next day, Aaron insisted on sending Anne to school with me.
We parked the car at the same intersection as before. Josiah's tall figure stood out amongst the group of children. He seemed particularly conspicuous. However, he dressed very plainly, and had some stubble on his face, he looked ten years older.
Anne hadn't seen him for several days, so she trotted over to him as soon as she got out of the car.
Josiah squatted down to welcome her. The two of them laughed and grinned, it was intimate and enviable. Aaron had a look of pure jealousy on his face.
As he watched Anne get along with Josiah, his face darkened with anger as if he wanted nothing more than to tear Josiah to shreds. He walked off while muttering something to himself, but from his expression alone, it didn't seem to be pleasant.
Josiah greeted us with a nod and a much humbler attitude.
I'd seen so much of that with Hendrix in those first few years. Whenever I thought of those schemes he had hidden beneath that kind face, my heart trembled uncontrollably.
Afraid that I would regret this, I decided not to look at him, "Please take care of Anne, Mr. Clark."
"There won't be a problem. Anne is very obedient." Josiah ruffled Anne's hair as they smiled at each other. They looked so harmonious.
Seeing that, Aaron's frown deepened. His face looked terribly dark. He was still engaged in a cold war with Anne because he attempted to transfer her to another school, so he couldn't get closer to her, which pissed him off.
Aaron was acting like a child as he was literally holding a grudge against a child.
Pursing my lips, I winked at Anne, and she understood. She walked over and grabbed Aaron's hand, acting like a spoiled child, "Uncle Aaron, can you come and pick me up tonight? Let's eat ice cream together. I love eating ice cream with you!"
The girl's child-like voice was so sweet and fatally irresistible to Aaron.
As expected, Aaron's gloomy face brightened up after hearing her speak. Although he raised his chin arrogantly, he couldn't hide the smile he had on the corner of his lips.
He pretended to be cool and lowered his head to look at her, clearing his throat as he said faintly, "If you do well at school, I'll reward you. If you don't, you're not allowed to eat any!"
"Ok!" Anne raised her little hand and saluted him. Her chubby little body couldn't stand still and swayed about adorably.
Aaron couldn't stand it anymore. He squatted down and took her hands, his gaze instantly softened, "Anne, be good. Learn your lessons and have fun. Do you understand?"
For a man who had once caused sucho stir in the city, in the face of that little girl, he instantly turned into a tamed lion. Seeing him being so careful, I couldn't help but look forward to him having a family of his own.
