My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1839
The person who greeted us was Alwin Zellweger. I had met him at a party before, but we never really interacted beyond that.
Six people stood at the door, a mix of men and women. Judging from their clothes, they were all people of high status.
Alwin took a step inside and joined in the fun. "Fate must have brought us together. Let's not split into two rooms! Well dine at the same table instead. Manager, please make your arrangements." As he spoke, he beckoned for the others to come in.
People like him who were ignorant of boundaries were annoying. Considering that we were all from the business circle, we could not refuse him. After all, we couldn't possibly get mad at a smiling face. The manager, on the other hand, was respectful of the sudden request. He looked at Freya and asked for her permission at the door. After getting her agreement, he turned around and left. Alwin respectfully invited Santiago to a seat next to me. The accompanying women sat in the middle while the others sat next to each other. They would whisper to each other from time to time. Judging from their gazes, it was obvious they were talking about me.
I shook my head helplessly. As I was about to continue eating with plans to leave as soon as I was done, Freya nudged me.
I turned and saw Freya raising her chin and pointing at my phone.
The next second, my phone screen lit up. I had gotten a Whatsapp message.
"That woman seems to be Hannah Gavlin, Eddison's only daughter. It looks like someone had planned to set Santiago and Hannah up."
Hannah Gavlin.
I repeated the name in my head unconsciously.
If that was the case, I was in the way of Hannah's plan. It was no wonder I felt a chill in their presence.
After stealing a glance at the table, I turned my attention back to the food.
Seeing my lack of reaction, Freya could not sit still. She leaned over and whispered, "Don't you have anything to say?"
"No." I took a deep breath and stared at her speechlessly. "We should stick to our principles when it comes to something like this. Don't poke your nose in others' businesses."
Though I did not come forth with any clarification for the reported news, it did not mean that I wanted to have a relationship with Santiago. Everyone was open-minded, and they should clearly understand that playing such speculative tricks in the eyes of the reporters for a bit should. have been enough.
In private, we had nothing to do with each other. Even if we intended to marry, we were still free individuals before the papers were signed. No one was in control of anyone's love affairs.
Freya remained silent and did not reply.
In Santiago's presence, Hannah became a docile little white rabbit Alwin was talkative, and she just kept listening to him. From time to time, she would add food to
Santiago's plate.
Santiago accepted all of them. He was very considerate of women's dignity, but the smile on his face was polite and distant.
Alwin was a smart man. Reading the room, he had either intentionally or unintentionally directed the topic to me, but I ignored him.
As time went by, Santiago must have had a lapse of judgement as he started staring at me brazenly under Hannah's burning gaze. Noticing that he was about to speak, I stood up abruptly. "Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom."
Without waiting for anyone's response, I quickly walked to the door.
When the waiter opened the door, I was stunned to see Hendrix and Serene.
What an unlucky day to be bumping into all my enemies at once.
