After looking at him for two seconds, I was convinced that I never had any interactions with this person before.

"Are you this man's lawyer?" The voice was easy to recognize. It was the police officer who called me. "Why the tardiness?"

"There was a delay," I answered with a smile. "May I ask what offence has my client committed?"

"It's assault." The policeman looked at the inspection form in his hand, and he was a little impatient as he spoke, "He hit a man in the morning, and the crowd called the police. The assaulter and the victim didn't know each other at all. When they asked him why he hit the victim, he just said, 'I just felt like it.' Do you think he respects the law?"

The more furious the police were, the more resigned I would become.

It was obvious that Cyril was bad news. He was simple-minded though physically, he was well-developed. Thus, brute force was his go-to in most situations. I had never liked such people. As his lawyer, I guessed I had been lumped into the same category by the police and was loathed by

them.

Since I had already made my way here, I could only help him for the sake of peace. I didn't want to be bombarded by phone calls endlessly.

After regulating my mood, I spoke to the police politely, "Pardon me, could I have a word with my client?"

These are legitimate rights. The police nodded and let me in.

Cyril had already gotten up and walked to the iron fence the moment I stood at the door. A proud, urging smile plastered across his face.

"Miss Reid, you finally came. Please bail me out. It's boring staying here," he said with a cheeky smile.

I stopped about half a meter away and crossed my arms in front of my chest. I looked at the man with a sly glance.

He had beaten someone up and was locked up for a day. Even so, his eyes were still clear and bright, full of youthful vitality. Was he truly heartless or did he just not know what he had gotten himself into? "Do you know me?" I asked, my brows raised.

Cyril smiled. "Who wouldn't? You are

famous in Jarold City, after all. Weren't you the one who handled the investment case between the billionaire Milleon and the Forbes Group? Hence, I immediately uttered your name as soon as something happened. I'm sure you're capable of bringing me out of here, right?"

I looked at him with a faint smile and did not answer him. I was indeed the one who took over the Milleon's

case. But in the court debates, as t

well as the subsequent interviews with the media outlets, were all Fabian. Only those who really knew

of the situation and the stakes of it would know of my use.

This man was only in his mid- twenties, who looked nothing but a hotspur. He couldn't have made this analysis on his own.

He must have had investigated me, or that the person backing him knew me like the back of his hand.

I didn't want to waste time. After

tow

thinking for a moment, I decided to

get to the point. "You have two

choices, One, be honest with me and

you can leave this boring place soon Two, prepare to spend the night here."

Cyril didn't answer immediately. He just stood in the same spot and looked at me with a playful glint in his eyes. It seemed that he was challenging me. He was betting on me not leaving.

He was still too young, his thoughts may as well be written all over his face.

Less than half a minute later, I turned around and walked out.

As expected, the man gave in.

"I'll be honest!"

I stopped in my tracks and smiled without looking back.

"I'm Freya's boyfriend."
