My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1851
Hendrix had always treasured his parents' belongings. There was no reason for such a mistake' even the servants did not clean it up.
I squatted down with curiosity, carefully sweeping away the broken glass before picking up the frame. Only then did I clearly see Hendrix's parents' wedding photo in it.
Since only Hendrix and I had been here recently, it meant that Hendrix had broken this.
But how could it be?
To avenge them, Hendrix did not dare to slack off at all. He was encased in hatred day and night, not having a day of true happiness. These were the few photos that he had left of them, but they were abandoned here.
As I was lost in thought, I suddenly heard footsteps behind me. They were quiet, but I was sure that someone was approaching.
There were many who wanted to hurt me, but I wouldn't be targeted as soon as I left Jarold City, let alone in the old estate.
I calmed down and slowly turned around with the frame in my hand.
A tall figure blocked my sight, and Hendrix was staring at me expressionlessly. His eyes were as cold as ice, and even the room suddenly felt chilly.
He looked at me as if he was looking at an enemy of fate, which made me feel strange and scared.
"Why are you here too?"
As soon as the words left my lips, I regretted it. Hendrix visited the mansion most frequently, so it was not surprising that we met here.
However, I should have been staying at the Reid Manor's bedroom in Jarold City. Instead, I appeared here.
Hendrix didn't reply. He lowered his gaze, and his expression turned even colder. I realized he wasn't looking at me, but at the photo frame in my hand.
It took me a few seconds to realize that I should hand him the photo frame. Hendrix was stunned for a few moments before he reached out to take it into his hands. Without even looking at it, he threw it on the shelf next to him.
"You're investigating me." Hendrix's voice was faint but intimidating.
Lying to such an intelligent person was tantamount to deceiving oneself.
"Yes," I said firmly as I looked into his eyes. "Since you didn't want to tell me the truth, I will find out myself. Is there anything wrong with this?"
Hendrix's brows creased even deeper, and his eyes were filled with a hint of anger. "I've already said that you only need to take care of yourself now. I'll take care of the rest."
"Yes, I believe you can handle the rest. That's why I shouldn't do anything and watch you take the risk alone, right? Hendrix, this isn't your own matter. Why should you be the only one to take full responsibility for it?" After keeping my thoughts to myself for such a long time, I finally decided to let them out.
"We've talked about how we should be honest to each other, but what about you? Why don't you trust me now? You've worked with everyone to create a seemingly flawless truth, but do you genuinely think that will be so dumb as to not even know whether I have been injured? Or do you think that I am so selfish that when I knew you were in trouble, I would still be able to accept all
normal arrangements in peace?"
I couldn't understand what was going on. Everything was getting better, but why had the walls in his heart collapsed instead?
Perhaps the night was too quiet, I could even hear my own echoes.
Hendrix was like a great mountain as he stood motionless in front of me. His black orbs seemed to be hiding a world of darkness, and the undercurrents were surging within them. I couldn't get involved at all,
and I couldn't even get any
information out of his expression.
