My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1896
Nerissa was scared to tears. "No, Sebastian, let my child go. He is your uncle's only child!"
Her cries seemed to have fallen on deaf ears. Sebastian looked over to her, expressionless, as if life and death were just routine matters in his eyes, unworthy of alarm.
It didn't take long for Sebastian to lose his patience. He pointed at Jordan's chest and said, "You have ten seconds to choose, ten, nine..."
Suddenly, a woman's voice suddenly sounded from a distance.
"Sebastian."
Everyone looked towards the source of the voice and saw Evan helping Naomi walk over.
Naomi held a baby in her arms. The vitality of the young girl had faded away, and she looked much gentler than she did before.
She looked at Sebastian and smiled with tears in her eyes. "We finally meet again."
As she spoke, she walked towards Sebastian without any hesitation.
I noticed that Sebastian's facial expression changed again the moment he saw her and the
child.
A look of surprise, confusion, and then a hint of imperceptible befuddlement flashed across his face.
"Is this my child?" The hand that Sebastian was using to hold his gun fell limp on his side.
Naomi smiled gently and looked down at the baby in her arms. "Yes, I didn't have time to inform you. The baby looks like you."
Sebastian swept his gaze over Naomi and the child, and his anger seemed to have subsided in an instant. He narrowed his eyes and no one knew what he was thinking.
"Sebastian," Naomi called his name
again, and her voice was so gentle as she said, don't care what you've done in the past two years. What are your plans for the future? We have a child now, so let's put these grudges behind us and find a place where no one knows us, and start a new life again. Hendrix has promised me that as long as you are willing to stop fighting, he will not hurt us."
Sebastian looked at her and then at Hendrix. As if convinced, he gave a slight nod.
This was a pleasantly surprising turn of events. However, as soon as my joy rose, I heard Sebastian's grim voice again. "Hendrix, the insufferably arrogant man, even had the audacity to contact my wife to persuade me out of this? How dare you pull this crap with me? Do you think I will forgive you after this?"
He paused for a moment, then raised his head to look at Hendrix, his eyes bloodshot with fury. "It seems you've made up your mind to blackmail me?"
Hendrix did not answer, but slowly picked up the glass of water next to him and took a sip. His actions were provocative.
Suddenly, Mullen walked through the crowd and approached me. She leaned over and whispered into my ear, "Boss, it's not safe here. You have to leave with me as soon as possible."
Ever since we left the island, Mullen
had followed Hendrix's men to the island and secretly protected me. During this period of time, they had been actively looking into the situation on the island. She had always been a calm and collected person, and though she wasn't exactly acting out of the ordinary, her tone clearly came across as impatient.
I looked up, and her gravely stern expression confirmed my guess.
"What's going on?" I asked quietly.
Miller frowned. "While you've been
here for an entire afternoon, I've been on patrol nearby. The people who just followed Sebastian off the ship aren't the only ones present. There are others who went ashore and have gone to different areas on the island. I followed a few of them and discovered that they were carrying explosives and gunpowder!"
As Miller said the last two words, her voice trembled.
Evan took out his phone and seemed to have received news of some sort. He ushered Naomi and the child towards us and had them watched over by the other bodyguards. He walked towards Hendrix and whispered something into his ears.
Hendrix didn't have much reaction towards whatever he was told. It was as if everything had been part of his plan.
