I put my hand on my chest and tried to make myself feel better, but I was already spiraling. I slowly leaned my body forward. As the traffic light flashed red, Irvin started up the car. Sensing that something was amiss with me, he asked, "Are you sick?"

I shook my head as I didn't want to go back to the hospital. "It's nothing."

After crossing the intersection, I immediately felt much more relaxed.

Perhaps mood swings were one of the side effects of amnesia.

I turned my head and looked at the rearview mirror. The limousine had turned in another direction, as if our paths would never cross again.

That was right. Those who sat in cars like that were born into wealth. They had been pampered since young and were born to be outstanding in the future. Although I had lost my memories, there was one thing that I could feel deep in my bones -I was not born into a rich family.

I thought of the man who made my eyes brighten, and the words that he had uttered.

"Do you think I, your father, would have eyes for just any woman?"

Was I that unattractive?

But the most important thing was - was that the attitude a father should have when speaking to his own son?

He looked cold and calm, but he seemed difficult to talk to. No woman could stand a temper like that.

Thinking about this, I couldn't help but turn to look at Irvin who was sitting next to me.

In comparison, Irvin resembled an ideal lover.

He valued love and righteousness, and was gentle and modest.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Irvin looked a little awkward under my stare.

I smiled faintly. "Nothing, I just feel like you are a really good man."

It seemed that Irvin did not expect to be praised by me. He looked down and said, "Is that so..."

The car pulled up in front of the Granger Manor.

"We're home." The car came to a stop and Irvin unbuckled my seatbelt for me.

I shrank my neck subconsciously. I was not used

to being catered to like this. "I can do it myself."

Irvin froze for a moment before he sat back down and said, "Alright."

Every cell in my body told me that I was not used to being close to this man, but my mind warned me that he was my lover who never left my side.

I was afraid of being entangled by

these two thoughts, so I got out of the car as soon as I could. I stood at the gate with my back turned towards Irvin and let out a long sigh of relief.

It had been half a month since I woke up and unconsciously accepted Irvin's intimate touch. Still, my body subconsciously rejected this intimacy with Irvin and as the days went by, my feelings for Irvin worsened.

The human's subconscious would never lie.

"What do you remember?"

Irvin's voice brought me back to reality.

I turned and found that he had walked up to me and was standing by my side.

"Nothing, it's still all a blank." I shrugged, pursing my lips in helplessness.

"It doesn't matter. Take your time." Irvin smiled and led me into the room.

The interior design of the manor had a rustic, European style. Almost everything from the furniture to the house frame were made of mahogany. In the middle of the living room was a phonograph, which made the house feel vintage

and old-fashioned.

Irvin led me to one of the rooms on the second floor which was very spacious. The curtains were pulled open and the room was filled with sunshine.

The warm air made me feel very comfortable but when I looked at the wide, luxurious bed, the unease in me rose again.

Going home meant that I could finally get away from the smell of the hospital's disinfectant, but I couldn't avoid being intimate with Irvin.
