My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1905
He glanced my way for a while before suddenly turning back to look at me once more. He stared at my thin lips and looked shocked for a few seconds before he came back to his senses as he hastily made his way towards me.
He had been too flustered, so he ran into a passing waiter and coffee spilled onto his coat.
"I'm sorry, Sir!" The waiter guiltily reached out and started wiping away at his coat.
"No need." The man pushed him away, and his eyes were still fixed on me. "Arianna... You're alive?"
He stammered emotionally. After collecting himself for a bit, he said again, "Arianna, why didn't you tell Freya you're in Jarold City?"
"Do we know each other?" I asked in surprise.
It seemed that I was much older than this man. I didn't think I would know such a gorgeous man.
Even if I couldn't remember anything, just by looking at the menu, I was almost completely sure that I was nothing but an ordinary person who wouldn't come to places like French restaurants often.
With a background such as my own, how could I be familiar with this wealthy man?
Admittedly, we were definitely not lovers, and friends did not necessarily have to share similar backgrounds.
"You..." The man was stunned for a moment and looked even more confused. "It's me, Cyril. What's up with you? Don't you recognize me?"
He was getting a little hysterical as he spoke. Perhaps it was because I didn't recognize him, or that I didn't bat an eye at his good-looking face.
I murmured his name, "Cyril..."
I had no recollection of him.
"Sir, please stay away from her," Irvin stated impolitely from behind.
Emotions filled Cyril's eyes as he planted both his palms firmly on the table while waiters were scattered around us. From a distance, it seemed like we were in the middle of a heated confrontation. It was no wonder Irvin misunderstood the situation.
Cyril looked annoyed by what he said. He turned his head and asked, "Who are you?"
I didn't recognize Cyril. He must be
feeling rather blue from being confronted that way by Irvin. Suddenly, thick tension seemed to have set into the spaces between the two men.
Irvin looked at me to make sure that I was safe before he replied, "I am a friend of Arianna's. And you are?"
"Coincidentally, so am I." Cyril
straightened his back and crossed
his arms in front of his chest. "I'm her best friend's boyfriend. Wouldn't you say that makes us pretty close acquaintances?"
Irvin squinted and raised his eyebrows coldly. "Arianna is my fiancee."
"You" Cyril was so angry that his face turned red. "Nonsense, I didn't hear anything about Arianna getting engaged to someone else!"
"There are many things you don't know about. For instance, I've been with her for the past few years."
Though Irvin's tone was indifferent, it somehow carried with it a sense of superiority.
Being sandwiched between these two men, I felt a little awkward. What kind of competition was happening here?
"You-" In his anger, Cyril was at a loss for words. He turned around and asked, "Arianna, is what he's saying true? You've disappeared for so long because you were with him?" Although I did not know why he was getting so worked up about, I still nodded and said, "It's true, Irvin has been taking care of me."
Upon hearing this, Cyril instantly frowned. He lowered his head and didn't speak for a while.
"I..."
"Arianna's not in good health. Her meal times cannot be delayed. If there's nothing else, let's talk later."
I was about to ask Cyril about a few other things, but Irvin had forcibly asked him to leave.
