My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) -
Chapter 1913
During the two hours that I was out, I had not drank. When I reached the foot of the stairs, I turned back and went to the kitchen for some water.
As soon as I finished drinking and got out of the kitchen, the lights in the living room suddenly lit up. I was taken aback as I shot a glance towards the lit area to find Irvin standing by the balustrade of the staircase in his grey silk pajamas and looking down calmly.
Before I could figure out an explanation, he asked, "Have you finished all the water in your room?"
How sweet of him to provide me with such a thoughtful excuse, and I accepted it without even thinking while nodding my head. "Yes, I feel thirstier than usual today, so I drank more."
"Okay." Irvin nodded slightly. There was a brief silence from him before he said, "Remember to turn on the lights whenever you come downstairs at night. There's no need to save on electric bills."
Just as I was about to heave a sigh of relief and respond to his joke, he said unhurriedly, "I'll bring you to buy two sets of pajamas tomorrow."
After that, he disappeared in the corridor on the
second floor.
It took me a long time to come to my senses. Then, I stared blankly at the clothes that I had changed into just before I went out earlier.
I didn't know if it was because women were innately predisposed to love children, but after seeing Wynn, I tossed and turned all night, unable to fall asleep.
When the clock struck five, I could not lie still anymore. I did not want to be idle, hence I decided to go to the kitchen.
There were people who delivered food ingredients to Irvin's house on a daily basis. The kitchen was filled to the brim with various ingredients.
Oddly, every time I saw an ingredient, the way to cook it would flit across my mind naturally, perhaps due to human's survival instinct. Thus, I chose three of the ingredients before me to wash them before turning them into food.
"Wow, you're in such a good mood today. Preparing breakfast by yourself?"
When Irvin showed up, I was warming milk at the kitchen countertop.
"I couldn't sleep, so I wanted to give it a try. I didn't expect that I could really cook."
It came as a surprise to me since my memories made me think that I couldn't.
Someone had once told me that having loved ones would motivate women to learn how to cook.
I probably had learned it when I was deeply in love with Irvin before this.
Irvin's eyes were fixed at me for a few seconds, and a gentle smile gradually spread across his face. "You haven't fully recovered yet, so don't tire yourself. Leave these cheres to the servants at home."
"I'm not tired. I got this. Actually, I feel more energetic after doing it."
Once I finished speaking, the milk had been heated to the right temperature. I poured two glasses of it and walked to the dining room. "It's done. Let's have breakfast."
After we sat down and started eating, Irvin said, "I need to go back to the company for a meeting in the morning. I'll take you out for dinner afterwards."
"Don't bother. I can whip a meal up at home," I blurted.
After a moment of silence, Irvin insisted. "Wait for me to return."
At that, I felt rather helpless. "There's no need to be so cautious. I only lost my memory, I'm not disabled. I can take care of myself. If I continue sitting and doing nothing while letting everyone serve me, my limbs are going to degenerate."
Irvin gave a smile instead of keeping the conversation going.
After breakfast, Irvin went back to the office. There were servants to clean up the kitchen, so I took some gardening tools to trim the flowers and plants in front of the villa.
While I was watering the flowers, two vague figures came into the corner of my eye. I looked over and saw two furtive people outside the fence. It was a man and a woman.
The man was fully armed whereas
the woman was decked out in a
beige long trench coat and an inner floral skirt, which kept her warm while preserving her elegance. The large sunglasses on her face also gave her an air of valor and
coolness.
I gazed at them in a daze for a few seconds, considering if I should call someone.
The cool woman took off her sunglasses and ran in along the fence, rushing straight to me out of the blue.
