Perhaps she was the cause of all this chaos that had happened.

"Are you disappointed?" Irvin seemed to be able to read me like a book.

I shook my head and said, "No, I'm not. Now that this is all made clear, at least I don't have to think about it every day anymore. I'm happy. It's just a pity that I wasn't destined to be the mother of such a lovely chubby child."

Irvin said jokingly, "If you've changed your mind, I'm ready to have a baby with you."

"Come on," I rolled my eyes awkwardly and reached out to grab the glass from his hand. I said, "You've deceived me for so long, and you still want to take advantage of me. You've got to be kidding me." Although his head was injured, he still had the strength to hold the cup of water and asked, "How could you treat a patient like this?"

I stared at him helplessly and finally gave in.

"Although I haven't gotten my memory back, that doesn't make me a fool."

There were too many unsolved mysteries surrounding Irvin. But because he hadn't fully recovered yet, I couldn't force him to give me any answers just yet.

During the six years when I was unconscious, Irvin had been by my side for so many years, that proved that he meant me no harm.

After he had his soup, Irvin felt sleepy. Once he had fallen asleep, I walked out of his ward and turned a corner to calm down.

As soon as I sat down, my phone rang. I looked down, but there wasn't any name on the display.

My heart sank. For some unknown reason, I felt that it was the man with the cold personality. That sense of mystery matched him perfectly.

I got up and walked towards Irvin's ward, my phone tightly in my grasp. I peered through the window and saw that Irvin was fast asleep.

I then pressed the answer button, "Hello, who is this?"

As expected, a familiar gravely voice spoke over the phone, "Miss Reid."

I was very sure that it was Hendrix.

Hendrix's voice was very unique, it sounded as though it was coming from deep underwater. It was cold, but filled with inexplicable power, it was easy to distinguish.

For some reason, I felt weirdly

relieved. Although Hendrix was an

extremely arrogant person, he carried the aura of being highly capable. He was the kind of person born to be in power and the fact that he had taken the initiative to call me, was enough to make me feel grateful.

I tried to calm myself down as I asked, "Mr. Roberts, what is it?"

"The results of your maternity test with Wynn are out. I'll send someone to pick you up."

Hendrix was extremely concise and got straight to the point. I had gotten used to this behavior of his from sometime now.

"I'm in the hospital, it's not

convenient right now..." I trailed off

and I turned to look through the window at Irvin again. "My friend is in the hospital by himself. I can't leave. How about another time..."

Hendrix acted as though he hadn't heard anything and his tone was impatient, "Miss Reid, do you know how many thousands of employees the Roberts Group has right now?" "Hmm?" I was stunned for a moment, and then nodded over the phone, "I saw it on the news, what about it?"

"Changing my time to fit yours would affect my schedule with the others. Miss Reid, are you ready

to bear that responsibility?"

As his words sank in, I became speechless. How dare I negotiate with such a powerful businessman about his use of time?

In the end, I passed him the hospital's address.

As soon as he finished talking, he immediately hung up the phone.

He couldn't wait and was very impatient.

What a... rude man.

As I looked at the phone screen that displayed my call logs, I thought for a moment and decided to call the housemaid to ask her to come over and take care of Irvin for the time being.
